Walk off something
Blame of the Game: Francisco Rodriguez
I waited to read the accounts of this game in the mainstream media, wondering just what the hell I had sawn. Imagine if this game had been played with us a game behind Oakland this late in the season. Pretty funny, right? Nope. Quit laughing. I hear someone giggling. Still. Alright, just don't let it happen again, any of you. Dismissed.

blame K-Rod for the crap ass throw to Tex

blame Frankie
he let two runners on and made a terrible throw… all his fault… if he stopped being such a drama queen…

blame GMJ!
k-rod gives up a single. If barton stays on first, then the next guy bunts him over. one out and a runner on second, krod can finish it off
Exceeding expectations is less a matter of luck than possession of certain assets.
K-Fraud manufactured his own demise
lay off of Jr…

He gave up a lousy single.
Then a walk. That’s not two runs.

It's bad still.
Hey you! What are horse mackerel!
Hey, the chair are sailing! You believe that I am toad of the month!
(Yes, that is K-Rod's entry music, translated)
and he can't throw the damn ball to the 1st baseman
he’s to blame… too many mistakes… you can’t pass the buck to Jr.
by Los Angeles de Anaheim on Sep 17, 2008 9:42 PM PDT up reply actions
Yes, but GMJ was consistently bad throughout the game
GIDP with a man on in the momentum-turning ninth, etc. This guy needs to go.

agree
But k-rod was equally at fault in the 9th.
I am seriously starting to doubt this guys ability under pressure, especially late in the season and in the playoffs.

he had NOTHING to do with the loss tonight
it’s all Frankie’s fault
by Los Angeles de Anaheim on Sep 17, 2008 9:45 PM PDT up reply actions
oh gee! let's look at fangraphs...
Frankie -.791
GMJ – .136
Let’s see, 791 is a BIGGER number than 126…. durr….
Frankie is responsible for nearly 80% of this loss… and sense he couldn’t make a routine throw to the 1st baseman for a DP after letting 2 runners on… IT’S HIS FAULT.
I really don’t understand why you have to be so anal about riding GMJ all the time.

Lay off Jr.? That is rich
This douche bag is a defensive specialist at this point and finds so many F-ing ways to screw up.
The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.
I'm not going to go on record as a GMJ advocate, but...
it appears that SRod, THEN Wood, THEN Frankie all let GMJ’s throw back to the infield go by them. Sure, GMJ bounced his throw back to the infield, but that is no excuse for an entire infield to fail to catch the throw. If anybody should know how to catch a ball on a hop, it’s a major league infielder. GMJ is getting faulted here for not walking the ball back to SRod and gently placing the ball directly into his mitt.
Francisco Rodriguez: 2006 to Present: 145 saves. 5 Panthers. As fabulous as Pride, Romero, Gregg, Budde and Dino Ebel combined.
well informed argument, as always

TRUE
and for the record, I am going to say that GMJ is going to be a solid contributor to the team in the playoffs. What I have seen lately (and lately is all the matters other than TODAY), GMJ is doing well when the rest of the team has been doing well.
This guy is going to be getting it done in the playoffs.
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!

Getting it done?
GIDP and mental lapses on defense?
The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.
That ball that bounced out of his glove last week in center was awesome also.
The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.
Again....
during the homestand, GMJ was looking good and hitting well. Say all that you want about how he has sucked ass up until approx 2 weeks ago. But all that matters is what he has done in the last couple of weeks, TODAY, and the games leading up to the playoffs. This guy wants the ring as bad as the rest of the team and with his LARGE EGO he want’s to look good and win. And I believe he will come playoff time.

I appreciate your optimism, but...
it sounded like he muffed a catch just last week according to Hauldog.
Hope you are right, GMJ is part of the team, so I want to see him do well for the team’s sake.
by Downing Rules on Sep 18, 2008 10:27 AM PDT up reply actions
While he should have had that catch (if it hits your glove you should have it)
it was a long run that got him in position, not necessarily a routine play.

He looks fabulous on the bench as a fifth outfielder.
The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.
We'll Just Have To Wait And See.....
HD, feel free to hate on him. I’m going to support all of our guys, even the guys who have been struggling, because you never know who is going to have a key hit/play that wins a game for us.
GMJ WILL BE FINE & will probably do better than some of the regular starters on the team.

I like you attitude. I mean that.
The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.
Your azuming that he doesn't throw 4 stright balls
He walked the guy on 4 straight pitches. Why isn’t F-Rod backing up the throw back into the infield? What was he doing? GMJ may have made a shit throw but it went all the way to the on deck circle by the 3rd base dugout.

You Better watch out, The Angels are War Machines!
A manager has never so badly deserved a BOTG before.
Never. We handed them this game well before Tex hit his homer, before GMJ sucked, and before Frankie was terrible.
http://inplaynoouts.blogspot.com/ - A blog about teams I like, written by me.
How so?
I didn’t watch most of it, and only listened to an inning or two on the way home tonight.
Witty .sig goes here.
Because
We should be playing Vlad so we won tonight even if it meant him being out for October with a tweaked knee.

Angels were winning going into Bot 9th
I’ll take the 58 times that has happened succesfully this season.
K-Rod
can’t pitch in Oakland to save his life. I’m sure I’m not alone in remembering that he lost a game when he dropped a return throw from the catcher.
I guess
that one game seemed to count for like 10 because it was just so damned stupid. As was this one. You lose a game because you can’t handle a throw back from the catcher, you deserve to be saddled with multiple losses.
I said Frankie wouldn't top 58 saves
I still think that way.

Rex just reiterated my point earlier
Scioscia is more focused on getting guys healthy than having the best record. For better or worse, that’s what it is. We saw what happened last year with banged-up players.
and no homefield advantage
And even if they’re healthy – who says they’ll play like they can ?
Afterall, they won’t have played for quite some time.

i guarantee you nobody in the organization is worried
they feel confident about the makeup of this team, and going into the playoffs, i like their chances much better than last year’s team.
I wish I could share in your optimism
What you mention is exactly what worries me: No one in the organization is worried.
I would be very worried.

Why is that?
How is it they feel better, and like there chances though?
Izzy out for the season. Aybar trying to get back. Howie has now missed 19 games with the same injury that had him out longer earlier in the season. Vlads knees are barking. Hunter is sitting a little much after talks of his hammy hurting, and now a ball off the face in BP. Figgy left the team to have his elbow checked out. There is just 11 games left to get into a grove with 8 off them on the road .
Don’t get me wrong I like the chances when all players are playing. Not the case ……..There should be some concern.

GMJ/HGH Jr f’ing blew that from here to eternity! Same guy can’t catch a flyball with one hand! Get him the F outtahere! I honestly do not care if they DFA him!
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?
BOTG
Whoever the douchebag is that couldn’t either throw or catch a ball from center field on a base hit. Christ, I played in co-rec softball game tonight and we didn’t one throw a ball away on a routine single. A single is pretty easy to work around. I’m betting he doesn’t allow the walk if first base isn’t open.
Never caught a good replay of what happened, but either GMJ or an infielder is to blame. How do you blow a fucking throw from CF to the infield after an 8-hop base hit?
hey, rev,
what kind of angel fan blames an individual player at the end of every loss???
i don’t want to hang out with you hh meanies anymore…

I was there, I saw it live
Frankie in the “bullpen” was planning on being a baddie. The Teix hr was our win :(. A’s fans were booing like crazy.
Driven into right-center field, Erstad says he has it...the Angels, world champions!
When Teix hit that laser to right field
I was up there screaming my head off with the loser A’s fans booing the whole time. That was almost worth it.
Driven into right-center field, Erstad says he has it...the Angels, world champions!
I find the BOTG a little offensive or disrespectful dont know which one.....
N E Ways I think the BOTG is REGGIE for steping on the ball and taking like 10 minutes to finally pick it up after the runs had scored. I thought it was funny but it also pissed me off.
Or F-Rod
Or Morales for not getting a hit with Tex at second.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Rev.....dont know why you changed the BOTG but you did : )
