Vladimir Guerrero and LAA

Just needs one more home run to have 25 + hr  . I know we won't be seeing 400 this year, which was a hope, but seeing 390 will be pretty good 2.. I just hope we don't get a Cincinnati moment with Vladdy (in 2002 he missed his 40th hr by about an inch, hit the exact top of wall and bounced back in.)

Hope that he gets a few hits to end over .300 for the year.

Another goal would be 90 rbi.. He would need a good week 2 do it..

It was great seeing the Angels as much as I did this year.. I got to see I would guess 25 or 30 games which is great,,and I always check the highlights on all the websites..Nice to know that lots of people pick the Mariners to win the division !

Dream playoff scenario is Angels sweep Boston.. then play the White Sox and win in 5 or 6...

As to the World Series- Man Ram and the Dodgers please !!!!!!!!!!!

The hope that Vladdy can continue his career numbers

is starting to feel fleeting and hopeful, rather than systematic and regular.

Seeing the ‘Ners finish last in the division and self-destruct both inside the clubhouse and in the community. is bittersweet. We want to have a serious contender for the division or it makes the AL West, and hence the Angels, look weak, and/or will be overlooked as a serious division at all. Having stronger foes gives the Angels the chance to receive more national coverage and more legitimacy, which any Angel fan will tell you is all that we’ve desired since the team’s inception.

Our World Series path is likely headed through Boston in round 1, Tampa Bay in round 2 (holy God, they’re unbeatable at home), and the big, baaaad Cubbies, who are serious contenders for the title this year.

We are overlooked because

of the time zone we play in.

The Angels were one of the most consistent teams on the road and at home, sporting the best record in baseball most of the year. If a team that ESPN loves was accomplishing this, say the Mets, Phillies, BoSox, or Yanks there would an article every day about how they might be the best team ever, or unbeatable, or what have you.

No one watches Angels games on the east coast that start at 10pm.

Who cares.

Fuck the east coast.

Screw them overlooking us, less pressure, less retarded crap to worry about.

Lets beat the Dodgers in the World Series and open a bottle of Vodka/champagne/whiskey/absinthe and go home happy.

I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....

Frankly, being overlooked is practically part of our identity as a franchise. I think it works as a motivational tool

Wait, you have absinthe? Not that I want any, but a …friend needs some for a ..uh…school project.

Once the Angels win a few more rings...

the rest of the country is going to be tired of us gloating about how good we are.

NOTE TO ALL: Stay Humble.

Re: The hope that Vladdy can continue his career numbers is starting to feel fleeting and hopeful, rather than systematic and regular.

I think the key to extending his shelf life is to get him off the field. He should DH at least 80% of the time next year.

He got it tonight

The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.

by hauldog on Sep 22, 2008 8:18 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I am soo happy he got this.. That makes 11 straight years with 25 hr, and if he stays above .300 we havent seen that in a while,it’ll tie Lou Gehrig for most consecutive seasons !! Quite exclusive company !
That was the big one tonight, hop that early next year he gets 400,what a day that will be !

Vlad

Playing with a bum knee. Hitting is down all across the AL. Must be a reason.

I do believe Vlad and Mr. Gehrig might be the only two people to hit .300 and 25hr for 10 straight seasons. Anyone know anything about this?

GA also motoring toward .300.

Thankfully, they are both Angels.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

This would be 11 for Vladdy, Gehrig had the same….
No one else has done that, and only he and Alex Rodriguez have done 10 season of 25 + actively..
Comment from Scoscia last night says it all
"Guerrero went deep against Ryan Rowland-Smith (4-3) in the fourth, hitting his 25th of the season and career homer No. 390 to move into a tie with Graig Nettles for 49th on the list.

Guerrero, batting .302 on the year, and Alex Rodriguez are the only two active players with 11 straight seasons with at least 25 home runs. If he remains at .300, he’ll join Lou Gehrig as the only two players in history to have 25 home runs and hit at least .300 for 11 straight seasons.

“That says it all. When you’re mentioned at all with Lou Gehrig in any way, shape or form it puts it into context the type of player you are,” Scioscia said. “This guy is as good as any hitter who has ever been in the batter’s box playing the game of baseball. He’s been fun to watch.”

Look out for Pujols...

he will be next…and his numbers are even better than Vlads!

Nice to see #25 last night and hopefully he can keep the avg up over .300! :)

Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?

by K3YEROUT on Sep 23, 2008 7:52 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

True...

Pujols is a friggin’ monster. If his age is accurate he will take the HR crown from Alex Rodriguez in about 15 years…

by jimmuscomp on Sep 23, 2008 9:18 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

But...

Pujols needs to stay consistently healthy in order for that to happen.

by SactoFan on Sep 23, 2008 10:03 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed on the health and age assumptions...

Pujols is going to blow these numbers out of the water!

8 years in the books already…
BA >.314
HR’s > 32
RBI > 103
R > 99

3 or 4 seasons of 50 would be nice as well..I wonder how close is he at age with A-Rod as far as HR carerer go ?? A-Rod started young..
It will be intresting to watch A-Rod in the next 8 years. Does he stay healthy that long ???

by raven191 on Sep 23, 2008 10:56 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Pujols may be the man to do it , but the career I am keeping my eye on is Guerrero. He may be able to put together one of the most consistent careers if can contine to hit .300 and drop 25 + hr for a few more seasons. He has a lot of RBI and hits potential too if he keeps playing.. I see no reason he can’t play at least 5 more seasons in MLB and have good numbers,if he has to DH then fine, but I can’t see his hitting going down so much that he isn’t around those numbers. He also had 30 doubles this year, a few which could of gone over, and maybe he hit 30 hr again. I hope for his career he gets to 3000 hits and 500 hr… I hope he turns his playoff performance around this year and hits really good,I think with the protection he will have,he should do it and lets hope he does..
Did the Angels have the best OF in baseball this year ???

I’m sure that if you asked the four-letter-network, they’d say no — the bosux had it.
