Here’s what Ryan Rowland-Smith said AFTER yesterday’s game:
“That guy [Willits] is like a little gnat, you know,” Rowland-Smith said. “I have faced him in the Minor Leagues and now in the big leagues, and he just keeps fouling pitches off. I felt I threw him a good one, trying to get him to roll over, but he hit a cricket shot into left-center field.”

I really hope the Halos choose the more condensed ALDS schedule. They can go 4-deep in their rotation in a way that no other playoff team can. I think it is a mistake to go to the three starter schedule – our strength is our depth.

Anyone care to explain how Soth is willing to let a starter
give up 5 runs in the 6th inning with a stacked September bullpen.
Because the game doesn't matter,
and he wants to see how his pitcher reacts to a stress situation.
~Till the Halo burns out...
It's not impossible.
If it’s a tie game, extra innings, that’s a stress situation.
~Till the Halo burns out...
How many times have we watched RTY whiff while trying to field his position?
Many many!
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?
Incidentally, this is why we want to have the 5 games in 8 days.
Colonel, Big Thunder and Voodoo we can depend on. Judy and WTY are a lot more iffy.
*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
To hell with you, Jered.

*Visiting Angels fan* Never give up, never surrender!
Lets go Zeus
Moar lightning preez.
Driven into right-center field, Erstad says he has it...the Angels, world champions!
Just sayin'
…if Reefer could field his position in the slightest he would have been on the bench with a 6-2 lead…alas…
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?
Just another example of how Soth manages to score and
not how the pitcher is actually pitching. If the Angels were up 3-1 he would have been gone MUCH earlier.
Well the Rays swept a double header against BAL today
So if the Angels lose it will be at 2 games which is essentially only a ONE GAME LEAD because TB spanked the Angels pretty well this year.
No, it's still two games they have to make up to tie us.
This is the same lead you have been talking about since mid August, complaining that Scioscia isn’t taking this “seriously enough” ad nauseum. Yet, somehow, we still have it. Give it a freaking rest already.
~Till the Halo burns out...
Possibilites....
So let me get this straight…. Weaver pitching in the playoffs having given up 4 straight hits in an extra innings game is a real possibility but Tampa making up 2 whole games not so likely?
No, Weaver in a pressure situation is a possibility.
One that Scioscia must consider and probably wishes to evaluate his pitcher on this close to the post-season.
Tampa is a team that we have a fairly significant cushion on, even IF we lose, with 5 games to go. Therefore, Mike can afford to exercise the opportunity to gauge Weaver’s mental toughness.
~Till the Halo burns out...
normal 5 game stretch I'd agree
but the last 5 games the Angels have Garland coming off a horrible outing, Moseley coming off a horrible season and who knows how Saunders is doing with his kidney stone. The Angels pitching the next 5 games is nowhere near the ptiching staff that got them their 2 game lead on TB
Bullshit.
Garland has been coming off of horrible starts all year, Moseley has been fairly acceptable of late, and Saunders has missed time between starts before.
Bottom line is, we have a cushion, Mike chose to use it, and despite the CONSTANT second guessing from you, he’s managed to helm the team to the best record in baseball through 156 games, which virtually every advanced sabremetric will tell you should be virtually impossible.
~Till the Halo burns out...
