Jeff Mathis over/under .200

Jeff Mathis, the catcher of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, is currently batting  .189.  A few game threads ago I set the over/under of .200 for Jeff Mathis.  I took the over.  Two lucky gentleman took the bet and the under.  Could you please let me know who you are.  Lastly, you are both LAME for rooting against Jeff Mathis to fail.

Thanks,

Cupie

Will The Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up

Yeah, I took the under on your loaded (lame) question, and in case you forgot i wear XL. I, too, along with the other gentleman will sew a #5 on the back of my new HH t-shirt, it will match the #5 tattoo on the back of my leg.

I HONESTLY hope Mathis does hit above .200, and if he does I will gladly eat crow… better yet, I will eat a steak dinner and i do not eat meat, shoot I will even purchase a HH t-shirt for every point over .190 he hits, and i will still Root for him to do so. I just do not believe this is his year. I do believe he has it in him……. just not this year. Have you not watched him play all year?

Thanks In Advance,

Kevin F aka LAME aka OUTRAGEOUS!

I think eating the meat of the crow is better yet not the steak dinner

I would have taken the under as well. I wouldn’t take it rooting against him either. Just think that is the answer to the question like you did

I am the other half of Duo de Lame

Here’s the LINK to the game thread, just as an FYI.

What can I say? While I certainly didn’t celebrate Mathis’ string of failures at the plate, I definitely look forward to watching him — and the other Halos — step up to the plate as I sport a new HH t-shirt. Power of the Panther.

Cheers,

i'm just taking a part in this

and anyways you still have to win 4 of 5

Why is that?

100-97=3

The Angels may have beat them 8 times in a row, but winning three before they do is all that matters.

i believe it said 100.5

so that would mean you would technically need 101

Suddenly, the gap between Napoli and Jeff Mendoza Line Mathis

is as wide as _____________.

More Napoli, 24-7!

I don't think either was rooting for Mathis to fail...

They just realize that he sucks.

As of this post

If Mathis goes 4 for 4 in his next regular season appearance he tops .200

He would be 57 for 284, hitting .201

Assume he plays tonight and goes 1 for 4. He would be 54 for 284, hitting .190, but still a streak of 4 for 4 would put him back at 58 for 288, hitting .201.

Mathis would need to play 3 games, going 1 for 4 each, before he would cut that streak requirement to 3 for 3 in order to jump above .200. Obviously, doing better than 1 for 4 improves his chances, but he is running out of games. Considering that he has gotten as high as 1 hit in only two of his last 10 games, it looks doubtful that he tops .200 through the last 5.

Francisco Rodriguez: 2006 to Present: 148 saves. 5 Panthers. As fabulous as Pride, Romero, Gregg, Budde and Dino Ebel combined.

*Rooting for failure*

On a serious note, I’m hoping Naps sees the lion’s share of ABs as we head towards the playoffs to keep his stroke going. I can see him being overlooked in the playoffs and “surprising” people with some power balls.

by Big Easy Halofan on Sep 24, 2008 6:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

So I guess the bottom line of this post is

he would have to get more hits in one game then he has had in one month.

Might be better said that if he went say 5-9 he would make it over the .200 mark making him 58 – 289. Then again just better off taking the under and realizing the guy could not hit the train if he was standing on the tracks. “Lost ball in tall weeds”

Mathis

I never thought he would deteriorate to his current hitting and fielding struggles. With his talent, it must be a psychological thing. But the psychological thing has killed many a career. Hope he can conquer it, but it doesn’t look good.

No, I am not a Mathis hater.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.
