And speaking of crap made in China and/or Oklahoma, by the way, Reggie Willits flat out sucks. He really should have been in Triple A all season. Including tonight.
Barring a close one tomorrow, Francisco Rodriguez made his final regular season appearance as an Angel on Saturday night, 6 years and 9 days after his Angel debut.

Reggie Willits does not suck, and since he likes to feed cows, he could probably dress your moose.
How often has he played center field enough to be effective playing that position? Maybe twice this year? Sheesh.
Thus the fundamental problems with Willits
He reminds me of GMJ’s issues in center: he makes the routine plays look hard and the hard plays look easy. The problem is, he also makes plays look hard that shouldn’t be hard. He doesn’t take good routes to balls despite his speed. His offensive game has cratered this year, but in his defense he hasn’t had regular playing time, either. There is a good case that he belongs in AAA if for no other reason than to get his swing back. But if his competence is in the corners, he doesn’t hit well enough to be a starter there, and he can’t play the middle infield.

The league figured out Reggie by about the middle of last season.
His BA has has been in decline ever since. He has never adjusted. I am really not sue if he CAN adjust, even given regular playing time.

What I wrote above was not a personal attack on Reggie, just a statement of his trend offensively. I am not sure what slack to cut.
In reading the article, he was feeling stomach pain during spring training, 2007 and all through last season (BTW, it is described as a non-functioning gall bladder, not a ruptured gall bladder). So, it’s difficult to make the case his BA was affected by the discomfort/illness.
Further, he has been healthy this year, yet his swing appears worse than ever. He might get better with more playing time, but I have my doubts. I have not seen him re-adjust to “the book” on him (takes a lot of pitches, slaps the ball to the opposite field, gladly accepts a walk, etc.).
He was a pleasant surprise for half of last season, to Angel fans and to opposing pitches. He will need make some significant adjustments to even come close to matching last year’s success.

The entire team as a whole. As my little league coach once said, you win as a team, you lose as a team. If I had too pick a loser, I woulnd’t know what to pick. Thank God we got HFA, due to bad AL East play.
