At best they consider Mathis an equal.

While Napoli has gotten more playing time lately, that has more to do with the Mathis slump rather than a recognition that Napoli is the superior player.

by snowhor on Sep 28, 2008 2:00 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I dunno

I think they may be coming around on Napoli’s slugging prowess.

by cupie on Sep 28, 2008 1:50 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

isn't it awesome that we have a guy hitting 20 homers in 226 ABs

that is STILL being sat on the effing bench?!

there’s absolutely NO reason why he should not be starting EVERY game in the playoffs. we need a win… not a sac bunt.

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Sep 28, 2008 1:51 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm not sure his knee/hands could handle every start

But he should get the majority.

He’ll be catching Lackey & Saunders in the ALDS.

If GA wasn't so Lazy, I'd have something clever here.

by TheTypingFiend on Sep 28, 2008 1:52 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

he'll be playing basically every other day

and he’s only played half a season.

i doubt that his body wouldn’t hold up just fine.

Kotch would've had that.

by howiestheman on Sep 28, 2008 1:53 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That's only the ALDS though

1 or 2 days off can go a long way top keeping a guy fresh.

Howie hadn’t played that much but also hadn’t seen a day off from when he came back before he went down.

If GA wasn't so Lazy, I'd have something clever here.

by TheTypingFiend on Sep 28, 2008 1:57 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Only if we're carrying Budde/Wilson

by TheTypingFiend on Sep 28, 2008 2:06 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

why not......If mathis comes out, Napoli just moves from DH to Catcher.

You can change positions during the game.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by acuda27 on Sep 28, 2008 2:25 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You have a good point though about my way requiring a third catcher.

If Mathis were to come out and Naps was DHing. If Naps changes to C, we lose the DH forcing the pitcher to bat. Good point. I hadn’t thought of that.

by snowhor on Sep 28, 2008 2:05 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yea, we'll see what Mike decides with he roster

I’m sure Nipples will get the majority of the starts behind the dish either way.

If GA wasn't so Lazy, I'd have something clever here.

by TheTypingFiend on Sep 28, 2008 2:16 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

WHY? If mathis comes out the Batter taht hits for him would become the DH

and Naps would move to catcher.
