And we start off with a rain delay!

Hey you! What are horse mackerel!
Hey, the chair are sailing! You believe that I am toad of the month!

Making the rain delay more of a problem — less sleep, just what the players wanted.

Would a rain out tomorrow be that bad?

As long as they did it without making the teams wait around all day — it might be a good thing to see tomorrow rained out, right?

What are the odds this game matters for either team in the standings and they’ll actually make the game up?

Yes, but it wouldn't be made up

This has happened before in last few years — when the two teams that would be tied are both in playoffs anyway, they don’t play the remaining game.

by gilbert on Sep 3, 2008 4:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Here's what's happened before

Let’s say the Angels finished 98-63 (missing 1 game), and the Rays finished 98-64 … the Angels would get homefield.

But if the Angels and Rays finished tied, the Rays would because they won the season series.

The tiebreaker for tied teams in the playoffs is the season series.

so when do we clinch?

i’m going with with 9/13/08 though it would be cool to do it against the yanks to give them another celebration at Angel Stadium to look at. :)

ah yes

just another time for Giambi to wait in the dugout and watch that “other” team celebrate

If you can reach Santa Ana, and you can find Angels Stadium, then

you gotta try Tacos Jaliscos over in Orange. Take Katella east to Tustin Ave. Turn right. Go south on Tustin until you hit Walnut. You will see a Taco Bell on the far right corner. Behind that is TJ’s.

Torta Al Pastor +
crispy chicken taco and cheese enchilada with rice and beans +
chips and salsa +
giant chicken, rice & bean burrito +
three large drinks =
about $13.

Totally authentic. Real Mexican food for the working locals.

Now the Flash install loops. I say YES, please install, and it opens a new tab, cycles a bit, and asks again. It’s real busy popping up windows all over for this. Not what I expected. I will get past it. Just odd.

You think the team was playing the same way

in trying to score 3 runs as they would have if they only needed one?

They would have pressed for a sac fly, or sac bunt, or with the bases loaded, a walk. As is, they needed to keep pressure on to get runners on and over without sacrificing ANY type of out because they were down three.

Two different types of baseball…which says nothing of the mental aspect of going from winnable to more-certain defeat.
