OT - Orange County Art Event
In my day job as an art critic I occasionally organize art exhibits and this Saturday night there will be a nice reception for my latest, entitled Animal Magnetism, taking place in Orange County!
The exhibit is at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) in downtown Santa Ana. The reception is in the evening, 7-ish, basically just head down after Saturday's game and it will be a pretty cool scene. I wrote a short essay for a nice catalog that accompanies my show. My OCCCA show runs thru September 27.

Since Rev did it first...
I’m a partner in a small gallery located in Downtown Fullerton called Hibbleton. Our next show, which opens tonight at 7pm, will feature artwork form Codl War Kids bassist Mat Maust, Richard Swift, Syd Butler, David Quon, and Nathan Warkentin There will be free wine and food and a sweet after party next store at Mulberry Street.
You are what you type.

Ahhh... now I don't feel so alone.
Since launching a career as a starving artist, or having it launched for me by the current job market, I can not tell you how nice it is to know there are at least a couple people involved in art that love my Angels. I can not tell you how many “I pity you and your sad "joe american” love of major sports" looks I get from people wearing scarfs in summer and drinking Stella at fixed up dive bars now that I have to mix with the enlightened art crowd. Though one of the first paintings I sold was of Lou Gehrig, so there must be closet baseball lovers in these galleries somewhere…..
