Blame of the Game: Darren Oliver Dustin Moseley
I have been saving this LOSE photo for two seasons and it is finally an appropriate image to describe the pain of this particular game...
Hey... Texas lost! Now turn the page...

he started that crap, and gave us absolutely NO chance to win this game

AGREED
Oliver shouldn’t have been used in that blowout. You think maybe being called in so damn early contributed to his sucktitude?
Witty .sig goes here.

actually I blame the fact that he threw fastballs about 90% of his pitches........
and started everyone off with sliders………and then a steady diet of fastballs.

Pain? The duck seems to be...smiling (thinking of the movie A Christmas Carol).
Missed most of the game. I leave it to others to figure BOTG.

you mean A Christmas Story?

that’s just the mild silver lining.

Yeah...or since the dog is the "pitcher" and the duck is the "catcher"...
shouldn’t it be K-9’d instead of goosed?

Agreed
That’s not something to joke about. Ever.

my 2 cents
I think this game should be a lesson to the people here who were calling for weaver to be used in trade during the season. Let Moseley’s blow up and skyrocketing ERA be a testament to that.
And I don’t think that Oliver should get the blame, it should either be Moseley or Sosh (for him taking out almost half of the regulars in the 7th). But since we don’t blame the coaching staff, I give it Moseley.
i pledge alliegance... to mike Scioscia

He had a 9.xx ERA in AAA in August… He didn’t do much better here.

I'm sorry, what?
Oliver gives up fewer runs in more innings, and only did it AFTER we got buried by Moseley’s crappy start, and he gets the blame anyway?
Definitely on Moseley.

Wow.
I just realized that without descent starting pitching, we ain’t shit.
Moseley’s new nickname is LYNCHPIN.

"Without decent starting pitching, we ain't shit."
Really? I think that makes us exactly like 29 other major league teams.
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Sep 6, 2008 12:28 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Really?
You forget that unlike these 29 other teams we have a very inconsistent offense. So if you don’t bring good pitching you need to rely on? That’s the key IMHO, how reliable is your offense?
How you gonna go against teams like the Rays and WSox who have a more consistent helping of both? I’ll take moderate consistency over sporadic volatility any day.
Honestly though, I would love you to talk me down of the ledge.

the rays are a lot like us actually. theyve scored 6 more runs on the entire y ear
and they definitely dont have a mark teixeira or vlad guerrero in their lineup

Evan Longoria says hi...
Pena is a solid OBP guy – not the average of Teix, but all the power and walks with plus, plus defense too.
Crawford, Upton, Pena, Longoria, Crawford and others – they are fine offensively.
Jim Scully
by jimmuscomp on Sep 6, 2008 9:54 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
You doubled up on your helping of Crawford there
He of the 91 OPS+. He’s a leadoff hitter with a .319 OBP. Garret Anderson is probably laughing at that number right now. He’s talented as hell, but he’s yet to put together anything.
And Longoria certainly has huge years in his future, but right now he’s not on the same level as Teixeira. His OPS is almost 100 points lower, and he still really needs to cut down on the Ks.

All I can say is that if that had been a home game and I had bought tickets...
I would have left when I saw the lineups and demanded my money back!
BOTG needs to be changed to Moseley…he had major suckage and never should have been called up…

BOTG should have been that damn staple that stuck Weaver's hand
or that foul area grass that turned the ball fair, thus leading to Moseley’s demise.
That hack Moseley should never start another game again
You ever feel as if your mind had started to erode?
by PieceOfAase on Sep 5, 2008 10:52 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
do you guys think Sosh learned that GMJ/Quinlan are NOT the answer
and Thursday’s performances were the product of HORRIBLE pitching?
….or do we suffer another crappy lineup tomorrow?

Moseley...
Moseley has been terrible at AAA Salt Lake this season…and he’d been awful with the Angels before yesterday’s start…so why on earth does Soth start the guy in a spot-start situation yesterday with home field advantage on the line?? You got me…
And further, how is Jason Bulger not with this team right now? Yet Darren O’Day and Dustin Moseley are?

they didn’t want to completely empty the team. Bulger’s the closer there. He’ll be back up when the AAA playoffs are done.
