Am I the only one?
Watching how the Sox trounced us last night, I got a sinking feeling.
We have too many injured and too many rookies playing to make it past the playoffs.
Tex can't do it all by himself.
How can a pitcher cut his hands on the bench? And why put somebody from AAA in to pitch against the Sox?
No, I'm not a manager, nor will I ever be, but I'm afraid we're all used up.

naw... last night sucked for sure but
it was a combination of Moseley/Quinlan/Matthews starting and us just having a bad game.
None of those guys should be starting during the playoffs. no worries.

Maybe you are
We have too many injured and too many rookies playing to make it past the playoffs.
Aybar and Kendrick and Weaver will all be back before the playoffs. Nobody else of importance is injured, except for the backup shortstop. As for rookies, I think Jose Arredondo has done a pretty good job, myself. Wood & Rodriguez are getting good enough experience so that the one who makes the playoff roster should be comfortable enough to contribute. I don’t remember John Lackey’s and Frankie Rodriguez’s rookieness hurting us too bad in the 2002 playoffs.
Tex can’t do it all by himself.
Vladimir Guererro is a Hall of Fame player having an “off” season at .295/.359/.504. Our Gold Glove CFer has 56 extra-base hits. The catching tandem has 23 homers, 73 RBIs, and 57 walks. Howie Kendrick is a lifetime .306 hitter at age 24 who hits doubles at one of the most prolific rates in Major League history. As a second baseman. Tex ain’t alone.
How can a pitcher cut his hands on the bench?
Opening up a can of dip? Fixing his bong?
And why put somebody from AAA in to pitch against the Sox?
Because we’re up by 17 games in early September, will clinch the division with a week, and some of our SPs could use a breather?
No, I’m not a manager, nor will I ever be, but I’m afraid we’re all used up.
What you are is a spoiled Angels fan, having a mild panic attack. Chill.

Vlad in the postseason
I love Vladdy but I do have one nagging worry. He has had one good post-season series and the rest have been dismal. His career post-season numbers:
AVG/OBP/SLG/OPS
.183/.269/.233/.502
From what I remember it’s a combination of:
- No decent pitches to hit and/or IBB
- Vlad wanting to do well and swinging at anything thrown by anyone
- End of season wear-and-tear leaves his bat a tic slow
Maybe the rest and the Torii/U-Haul protection will change things. We need him right in October!

Vlad has been hurt.
Seattle I would like to thank you for sucking. It allows me to get back to my roots: Hating Fremont.

I am not sure if you are referring to this year ot previous years.
The problem is that Vlad seems to have been "off" most of this year…too much "bad Vlad". He is swinging/missing pitches he previously would hammer or at least foul off. Plus, I have seen him jerking his head so far around on some whiffs that he is starting to remind me of Linda Blair in the Exorcist.
Whatever the problem(s), I hope he gets straightened out in the next couple of weeks. We need "Good Vlad" in the playoffs.

I was talking playoffs.
Agreed. His play has been a tad concerning this year.

Thanks for the friendly face slap
I suppose you’re right. I’m so defensive about my Angels and so proud that when we fall short, I panic.
Sorry.

No need to panic
Still a month until the playoffs.
The injuries have time to heal and the players have time to focus going into the playoffs. Trust that Scioscia will have the team prepared.

How can a pitcher cut his hands on the bench?
Simple. When the staples are coming out of the pad.

I almost can't believe somebody hasn't suggested this is me
posting under a pseudonym. If you want to be worried about something, be worried about Howie not getting his stroke back before the postseason. He wasn’t hitting that well before he finally went down.
Witty .sig goes here.

I agree with you about starting Moseley but overall not nearly as worried
Moseley was pitching like crap in AAA. Anyone on their starting staff would have been a better option.

In Soth's defense
Moseley did well in his last spot start — at Oakland, just before the break.

Frankly, wouldn't break my heart too terribly much to see all of our starting pitchers miss a turn...
run out a AAA starter each time through…not too often a team gets to run its starters out there with the regularity of ours or the M’s in 2001…
