Saunders gem for sure...
too many others failed with runners on 3b…at least 5 times…gotta go with original recipe!
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?

Saunders
Now that’s the Saunders we need as 3rd pitcher in the playoffs.
Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

i do believe that the definition of panther...
is going above and beyond what is needed of you. Some might argue that Saunder’s did what was expected of him, but with the way his starts have been going, and the offense’s struggles as of late, his start was pure panther. It’ll do wonders for his confidence for the rest of the stretch and into the playoffs.
Not to mention that the although there were some OK to good performances at the plate, none of them IMHO were panther worthy since most (besides GA doin his job bringing home a run) were canceled out by an equally poor performance at the plate.
Hokie Joe is the man and showed our beloved Sosh that he is the left hander we need in the rotation come playoff time.

Let's not forget
Hokie Joe was supposed to battle it out for the 5th starter job or go back to Salt Lake shuttling.
The man is 15-7. When did we have a left-hander win so many games? Now he’s being talked about as the No. 3 playoff starter (rightly so). The Colonel is becoming one of my favourite Angels of all time.

I agree
He almost seems like he could have that John Lackey mentality in the future (if he doesn’t already have it), except were John gets gnarly fired up Joe has that “I totally knew i was gonna get that guy to ground into that double play” attitude, it’s pretty bad ass.

And the double play he got Ramirez in the 6th was pretty sweet
Nice to Brandon Wood handle the position of SS so well on a major league ground. That was a quality DP in the bottom of the 6th … it looked a bit like Trammell-Whitaker back in the day.
These games at SS for Brandon Wood are very important to our future, methinks.

most definately
I think that B. Wood would be a better fit at shortstop since that is his natural position, but then there is the issue of having Aybar and Izzy behind him. especially since Ayabar has shown his flare for web gems and Izzy is as dependable a glove as you can get with a decent bat too.
Decisions, decisions.

possibly a combo of maicer-izturis-srod-wood
to the jays for some of their really good young SPs and a reliever
Exceeding expectations is less a matter of luck than possession of certain assets.

maicer-izturis, huh? :P
my guess is, we hold onto Wood and Izzy, but let the other 2 go.
but it won’t be the Jays… they already have a couple good shortstops that they love up there.

Joe! Joe! Joe!
1) Pitched into the 8th
2) The circumstances
The bullpen was badly depleted/tired after Mos’ Friday fiasco and the Sat.nite extra inning affair. Joe HAD to pitch deep into the game.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

Does "out at Home Depot" mean watching steroid-infused NFLers in their shiny pants?
Couldn’t help that one….cheers.

Anybody think about this?
Had the Angels come into Chicago smokin’, and swept the Chisox, and all had been close games. Frankie could have tied Thigpen’s record IN Chicago. Does anyone else think that would have been absolutely glorious to watch?

yeah
it wouldve have been pretty coo. plus it would have improved my chances in the saves record contest… frankie now has to get three saves in three days for me to win.

to see the Colonel’s cheery face in the picture….it meant the halos won! Woo hoo! I was in the dark yesterday and this was my first image seen on the internet this morning. Awesome.
