Pregame NYY @ LAA Tuesday
7:05 PM - FSNW - Pregame Guesses:
1 Correct Answer = 3 points: Name the Angel who records the final defensive out in the game.
(a strikeout is recorded by the pitcher unless it is dropped, a groundout is recorded by the player recieving the ball and touching the base, etc.)

So if it's a grounder to Wood at short
and thrown to Teixeira, the answer is Teixeira?
If so, that’s my answer.

My curse on the angels: I have been to 3 of his 5 blown saves, I was at the no-hitter for weaver, and I was there when Maicer had a season ending injury.
I am one LUCKY fan

NYY: RHP Alfredo Aceves (0-0, 1.29 ERA)
Aceves will make his first big league start on Tuesday, taking over for Darrell Rasner, who was moved to long relief. Aceves was a fast mover through the Yankees’ system after being signed out of the Mexican League. Promoted to the big leagues on Aug. 28, Aceves was 8-6 with a 2.62 ERA in 25 games (23 starts) at Class A Tampa, Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Double-A Arkansas Travelers swept the best-of-five North Division playoffs against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Royals affiliate) and will begin the 2008 Texas League Championship Series on Tuesday against the Frisco RoughRiders (Rangers affiliate). Six of the seven Angels’ Minor League teams qualified for the postseason. … Brandon Wood’s third-inning homer Monday was his second in three games after hitting just one home run in his previous 37 games with the Angels this season. He hit another in the game. … The earliest the Angels have ever clinched a division by date is Sept. 23 in 2007 and by game is 153 in 1986.
Brandon Wood! You go…
Whodathunk we would be rooting for a former Ranger come August...?

Technically Speaking
the catcher is credited with a putout for every strikeout. But if we were to go by official scoring rules, the only way for a pitcher to get the credit would be if he were covering a base either 1B on a grounder wide of the bag, or on a play at the plate on a wild pitch, something K-Rod accomplished a couple of years ago.
So what happens in this scenario
Frankie strikes out the final batter, Naps or Mathis drops it and throws to first for the final out.
Is that Tex or Frankies? Or Both?

Just read the caption added above...
but just incase I’m a little slow today (I almost missed the short bus)….a dropped ball for the final strikeout would be credited to Tex who would be at first base.
Thank you almighty Rev for this clarification

I expect
to see GMJr. replace Vlad in the OF in the late innings, unless it’s a tie game or the Angels are down by less than 3 runs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rivera PH for GA if the Yanks bring in a lefty reliever.
bleh...
Q and Mathis in the same lineup… i wonder why Naps isn’t in… he had a pretty good game yesterday, no?
Kotch would've had that.
Don't Know....
is that a good Speier or a bad Speier?

There is a difference?
i thought that lost its taste in spring training
I wish GA wasn't so lazy, or he would take care of the GMJ Problem by himself

Is Clenching a Big Deal....
since it’s a fore-gone conclusion, is it really a big deal to the fans? While it is an “Accomplishment”, the real goal here is the WS.
For me, it will be a short-lived celebration, since it really was never close since the All-Star break. STEP 1 is Accomplished. STEP 2. BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL (OR AT LEAST THE A.L.) & HOMEFIELD . STEPS 3 & 4 (MORE IMPORTANT THAN #2) GET TO THE WORLD SERIES………..AND WIN IT
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!
That said.....
I’m sure it’s an awsome thing to watch the players celebrate. So are you goin’ tonight to watch (in case tonight’s the night)? I’ll be there tomorrow…so I hope the Rangers lose tonight ! I am mainly hoping to catch Frankie make history.
Coolest Celebration I Will Ever See was the one I witnessed in 2002: Game 7 W.S.
