Angels Fail to Clinch
NO GLOVE, NO LOVE
No Clutch, No Clinch
Blame of the Game: Was the Gary Matthews, jr. error the fatal flaw in our game-plan tonight? if it wasn't, was there a player with more blame on his shoulder than our defensive sub who cannot even sub defensively?
The Magic Number remains at 2...

I yelled from F101 to Reggie...
“GA WOULDA CAUGHT THAT ONE…”
I was joking, though, you know. Reggie wasn’t happy to hear that from loud-mouthed me.

No he wouldn't have.
But he would have played it smart and not let it get past him.

Willits boneheaded that play by trying to backhand the ball in a dive.
Francisco Rodriguez: 202 career saves. 4 career Panthers, almost 1/2 as awesome as GMJ.
Reggie
lead off guy needs to get the offense going… and he muffed a catchable ball
Halo tailgate party... offense optional

where was the lose pic taken?
i vote black magic. if we’re so quick to give pitchers panthers, why aren’t we to give them blames? all the guys on base may not have been his fault completely, but he did give up the homeruns.

Santana's stuff was still pretty good
But the bats made it inconsequential how well he pitched.
Can’t really blame the pitcher if the batters don’t help him out.

Well then cant we make this argument for wood last night?
It doesnt matter how well garland would have pitched, the angels still would have won.
Exceeding expectations is less a matter of luck than possession of certain assets.

you can make any argument you want
are you the kid who argued that dirty faces did not cause zits and never washed?
nope, that was not me.
I did argue that 3 Wood should have been panther last night however ;)

damn
All im saying is that seeing 6 great innings by garland (1st inning is not great) is less surprising then 3 hits, 3 rbis and 2 HRs from brandon wood, regardless of the opponent

Yea you could
But one could reply that by allowing 1 run in 7 innings, it was really Garland who made it not matter how well the hitters hit.
I wanted Woody to get his first Panther too, he played a hell of a game, but 7 innings of 1 run ball is pretty Panther too.

acuda bought them all out. Before kendry and s-rod, acuda was obsessed with davanon

So....
Its safe to say acuda has a man crush on Davanon

well, who was acuda obsessed with before K-mo and s-rod?
J-dav?

THE DUDE HIT FOR THE CYCLE...
he deserves a freakin’ t-shirt.

Ima go with Ervin
he had some good stuff, but he made some terrible pitches, and the Yankees made him pay for it.
I love Santana, but he shouldn’t be let off the hook on this one.
Kotch would've had that.

willits was bad, but if gmj doesn't make the error, santana doesn't pitch around abreu, and who knows what happens after. MATTHEWS!
sidenote – why was ervin out there the next inning? the game was conceded when willits was named leadoff hitter, see no point in extending ervin in a game that had loss written into the lineup card.

BOTG: HGH
I wonder how Santana’s doing with the innings he has pitched? You don’t want him to turn into CC Sabathia and/or Fausto Carmona circa postseason 2007 once the playoffs start.
HGH
When HGH dropped that ball you just had a feeling something bad was going to happen. That was the the turning point of the game.
Reggie Willits also deserves some blame since he was awful leading off.
Game was horrible with all the Yankees fans sitting around me. I was hoping for a better performance on my bday.
my last birthday party ended abruptly with manny ramirez admiring the moonshot he just hit off Frankie to end game 2 of the division series. Drunk and angry = bad birthdya boy

I had that same bad feeling
when Reggie WIllits dropped the ball.

Rangers won
Angels wouldn’t clinch anyway. I saw the same headline on another site, and it irked me that the headline said that they failed to clinch, and then immediately into the article they recognize that the Rangers had won, meaning it wouldn’t have happened regardless.
But Santana is your scapegoat tonight.
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Sep 9, 2008 11:51 PM PDT reply actions
I think what they meant was
if the Angels had won last night, they would have clinched at least a tie.
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
I know we can't blame....
Scioscia, but MIKEY HAS SOME SPLAININ’ TO DO !
Would someone explain to me why he bumped up Ervin to fill in for Weaver (thanks cheating White Sox for the ghetto metal bench), when the following game he uses Moseley to fill in for Weaver. Why not just play it safe and hold back Weaver so as not to screw up any mystical powers of Black Magic. Couldn’t he have thought about this scenario and prepared for it to begin with?
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!
Ervin on Regular Rest
Scioscia does not want to screw up TWO pitchers…

GMJ's mental breakdown lead to Santana's.
A Rod jacked a good pitch not much you can do about that.
LA Angels/Baseball. Can we stick to that topic?
Come on guys!
It’s Santana all the way! 6 innings pitched and 6 runs given up?? Thats got BOTG written all over it.
And that non-catch by Willits wasn’t an easy one to make.
Write to the Angels front office. Get Tim Salmon's number 15 retired!
1 run in 9 innings
against a minor leaguer and the Yankees bullpen seems much more suspect to me.
That catch wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t uncatchable either.
Batting leadoff isn’t easy either.
Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t let our batters off the hook.

Well come on...
We always suck against guys making their first start.
Luckily, I doubt that we’ll see much of that in the playoffs.

Jeff Davanon Rev? Way to represent!

BOTG Hunter
Poor GMJ gets blamed for everything. If Hunter hadn’t left the game, GMJ never wouldda entered.
Also, Hunter gets extra credit for boneheadedness because he pushed I-Rod like a moron the other night and got himself suspended when we’re trying to secure home field advantage.
Howie Kendrick, the Eric Davis of 2nd basemen...great when he's on the field, IF he's on the field...
Hunter did not leave the game due to the suspension
he left it with tightness in his left quad.
