Preston Gomez Passes On
An accident victim at a gas station in Blythe at the conclusion of Spring Training 2008, Preston Gomez fought the good fight.
We at Halos Heaven offer our most sincere condolences to the family of this great man.
He was a 28-year employee of the Angels and had been serving as a special assistant to the General Manager.
Rest in peace, Preston. God be with you!
GO ANGELS WIN IT FOR PRESTON! GO ANGELS WIN IT FOR PRESTON! GO ANGELS WIN IT FOR PRESTON! GO ANGELS WIN IT FOR PRESTON! GO ANGELS WIN IT FOR PRESTON! GO ANGELS WIN IT FOR PRESTON!

Sad Obituary
Count on the LA TIMES there to overlook reporting the part of Preston’s story where the Dodgers unceremoniously dumped him to save a few bucks late in his career.
Mike Scioscia brought him over to the Angels and he was deep in clubhouse politics, widely credited with convincing Frankie to check his ego at the door.

Rev—Did he have something to do with getting Arredondo in check, too?
Gomez will be missed!

Yup...
an article some time last year discussed PG’s discussion with Arredondo when the latter was screwing up in the minors.

Cool, thanks
Awesome guy. May never be replaced…Too bad he didn’t have a number (I don’t think?) so it could be retired, Jimmie Reese-style…after Timmy’s gets retired, of course.

Just a huge figure in modern baseball history
We were honored to have him, and doing so was a sign of a class organization.
