PrintSuddenly, he's out of the WBC, replaced by Li'l Joe. Shades of Buffet Bart, who pitched the WBC and couldn't pitch ever again.
Is it that serious? Was last season a pre-cursor to John's woes? What is going on?
You know I really wanted to end the fan post right there, but the software forced me to write more. I just can not figure out when to stop. You've got to have diarrhea of the mouth BAH!

good point ihearhowie2.0...
because you have figure if was going to sign an extension, then he would most likely still play. but since he’s in his walk year w/no extension he can’t risk getting hurt. i hope i’m wrong but since could be a bad sign especially since he said in the past that he wanted to sign a long term deal before the season starts and he was hoping we improved our offense, two strikes on those issues.
ya, although maybe the Angels have something to do with it
LA Times has quotes from Reagins saying theyre forbidding Vlad and Napoli from playing.
The home site just says Lackey was replaced by Saunders, but maybe the Angels urged Lackey to not do it BECAUSE of an impending extension? I dont know, maybe just wishful thinking.

plus santana is pitching as well. can you imagine having lackey, saunders & santana while we don’t know who our #5 starting pitcher is going to be. we might lose sosh and butcher from cardiac arrest.
I think theres a little too much reading into this
Lackey has always been a team player. When the angels say, rightfully so, that they do not want their Ace pitcher (coming off an injury shorted season) to pitch unnecesarry extra innings, Lackey agrees.
Plus, Lackey wouldnt know what to do with all that offense…
Lets go angels

if Lackey took the mound, it would likely be a -hit loss for the US. There is no justice.

Enjoy Lackey this Season....
because he will not be signing an extension with the Angels. We have done nothing this offseason to improve our chances… especially on offense.
