Garland Signs 1-year contract with Arizona
It's a 1-year deal with an option for 2010. Guaranteed money is believed to be in the $6 million to $8 million range. The Angels were very lucky that Garland didn't accept arbitration. They would have been stuck paying him at least $10 million. Bad timing for Garland. Last year Carlos Silva, a pitcher statistically similar and somewhat worse than Garland, received a 4-year $48 million deal from the Mariners.

Movin Out
I heard Judy was dating Lovie Jung of Team USA Softball. She (used) to live in Fountain Valley.
Hope they like the WARM desert climate of the Phoenix area!
I guess this makes Cousin Oliver smarter Mrs. Garland.
He could’ve made more from us by accepting arbitration…
Bye Bye Judy!

The risk in accepting arbitration...
…for a player is the club can back out of the arbitrated contract up until the end of Spring training and pay only a small percentage of its value.
