yeah there is a chance in hell
Manny will sign a three year $90 million contract with the Angels on February 17.
WITH a conduct clause.
a slight chance.
a tiny one.
teeny.
small
get it
not at
all.
It wouldn't take that much
The only team truly in on Manny is the Dodgers. I think 2 years 54M would get it done. I say pull the trigger!
Light up the Freakin Halo!
That's crazy
We can get him for $15M less.
replacement level analysis
e.e., use caps...
e.e. says no

I wish he did
I understand the money aspect but he just makes our team so much better that I don’t see how the angels can ignore that. Although, with the not such a Ninja anymore saying Manny would never play for the Angels I just don’t see him contradicting himself.
legen... wait for it... dary
lets give him his 6 years...
with guaranteed years, if he can meet certain numbers each year, the next one is guaranteed, if he cant, he is gone without debate. No options for either side, it just kicks in or it dont. Require like 150 games, a certain average, certain rbi (i know that means his teammates have to actually get on for him) and a certain amount of hits, hr, etc… something like that.
He will never take it cause he knows he will be dead in 2 years, but if it is offered, and he declines, he gets seen as the ass he is. If he takes it, and can survive… he still helps out.
I’d give him just more than tex, cause he is better than tex. At least right now he is. Is there anything wrong with a player earning his money from one year to the next?
We Need Manny
I’m amazed at how dismissive Angel fans are of Manny. This guy is a beast offensively and he WINS! It’s not like this guy is a bad apple who has only played for bad teams. He is a two time World Series champion and he was the reason the Dodgers advanced as far as they did.
I get a little tired of all the Boston talk from Bill Simmons articles, but he nailed it with his piece on Manny. If you haven’t read it, you should do so because it makes a lot of sense. I’d love to see Manny lighting up the Halo.
Or at least
Lighting up Paplebon, say in game2 of the 2009 ALDS, it’s been mentioned before, but O, would that make my next decade (the WS win made this decade)

funny how Tony said we weren't in on Manny
for the specific reason of being fair to our fans and not letting them get their hopes up
and people still have their hopes up
PR
You may debate Manny’s impact as a player, but what about the possibility of Arte changing his mind and snatching Manny out from under the McCourts? I quiver with glee considering the possibilities of that PR coup.
"pitchez la vache!"
teeny tiny
Always a smidgen of a chance. I mean if every other roster spot in baseball is filled and we get him for the minimum or something.
But Rob is obviously showing he doesn’t follow the Angels much. We DESPERATELY need a LH (or switch) hitter with patience, and there happen to be at least 2 of those out there.
Besides the chemistry and defense issues, a slower hitter in their mid thirties is ripe for a massive decline, and soon, and that is worries me the most about Manny.
He's been in his thirties for a while
And besides his quirks, he hasn’t really done bad at all.
Manny
Of course he is a headcase but I could see him as a Bonds like addition to the lineup – the one taking all the steroids and hitting all those home runs in the 2002 World Series.
It maybe the short term move that makes the Angels serious postseason contenders as opposed to this ‘squeeze play’ punch and judy team we saw eliminated from the postseason in 2008.
I think I’ve watched too many snippets of the 2002 World Series highlights on the MLB Network.
Having Manny in the lineup is far too tantalizing, though I’m not holding my breath.
