Scioscia gets a contract extension
According to Tim Brown from Yahoo! Sports, the Angels have given manager Mike "Soth" Scioscia a contract extension that will run through at least the 2012 season.
Contract details are currently unknown, but his last contract ran about $2MM/yr.
This can't come as a surprise to to any of us... Mikey is the best manager we've had since we've been here and our front office loves him.
Is anybody disappointed by this?

I like the stablibilty
And the guy wins, there’s no denying that. My only criticism of him is that he tinkers with the line-up to much. I supposed that could be a product of the personal he’s been given. That’s it though. Everything else I like. The tv stuff, the idea of him fitting into a Prius, all that stuff is cool. He’s like a giant, red pepperoni. What’s not to love?
You are what you type.
I dont think he tinkers enough.........
Letting GMJ play well beyond what he should have this year………

Of all of the day's signings...
at least so far…Bradley…Burrell…Giambi…
…this is the best deal of them all. Way to go, big Mike!
I don't know...I'm makin' this up as I go.
more appropriately…
BUILD a diamond lane that runs from the 101/Westlake Blvd directly to Anaheim Stadium…I am sure there are several areas that are not carpool-able, like in downtown LA that make the Soth’s commute ugly.

Oh yeah!!!!
Then I can use it too…
Of course, they need to make it “Carpools and Angels fans only”!

Oh, I hope not...
I hope his contract with the Halos forbids any more of those. And for goodness sake, make sure one of those riders goes into HK47’s contract too!!!

I got my big screen at Micro-Center.
Sorry Soth.

Replace Old TVs!
The only way Soth should be able to these commercials is if Howard’s replaces all of the old TVs in the stadium with some new flat screens, this is long overdue.
legen... wait for it... dary
Love you Soth................
Stay 4evah plz k thx……

Fine deal
As long as he does not go crazy with “Scioscia-ball” and does something ridiculous, like, i don’t know.. call a squeeze play in the 9th inning in Game 4 of the AL-freakin-CS. But overall, Soth seems to have good chemistry with the players and there aren’t many better.
And the commercials, of course.
visiting halos fan
But if the bunt is laid down successfully, you would be posting what a genius Scioscia is on this thread.

This just in
Soth’s extension runs through 2018 that is 3 years longer than reported before. Soth is stickin around forever woot!
Give the young guns a chance...if they suck wellll...
Not overwhelmed with joy
A lot of you have hard on’s for Scoscia… he’s a player manager. That I can appreciate, but the man has an ego.
Therefore...
I’d rather have Joe Maddon or Bud Black.
I’ve had this hard on going since October 27, 2002 … ain’t nothin’ gonna bring it down, not even visions of Roseanne Barr naked.

I was actually quoting the epic Andrew Dice Clay film better known as “Ford Fairlaine” and how he uses the image I borrowed to alleviate some morning wood.

That is the last thing that comes to my mind.
At Spring Training last year, he didn’t really stop to talk to my family, but he was pre-occupied; talking with Gammons one day and some other reporters the second day. I could tell in both “walk-bys” he did, he was dead-on focussed in the conversations he was engaging with the reporters. He was giving them his undivided attention. I respected that and did not come close to thinking that he was arrogant.
All I thought is “man, that guy must be busy all the time!”

Didn't mean to imply you thought that
I was asking matt92130, he’s just been on a tearing into Scioscia lately, I was wondering if Scioscia ran over his cat with the Prius or something.
no harm taken and I intended to reply to matt, but felt adding on to your statement was better location. Sorry.

No...
I’m just not a Scioscia fan. I know a lot of you love him. I don’t agree with a lot of his decisions sometimes, and I’m entitled to that as is all of you. Agree to disagree.
absolutely...
to you he’s arrogant, to me, a great (but busy) person.

More proof of Scioscia's coolness
snippet:
Mike Scioscia is the kind of boss we’d all like to have. He is fair, decent and consistent. He is honest, too. He’ll tell you right up front that he doesn’t have all the answers, and isn’t that the best kind of honesty?
He can be tough when he has to be. You’d better not let him see you giving less than your full effort. That’s usually not a problem, though, because when you play for Scioscia, you know the rules going in. Scioscia is a pretty simple guy in that way. If you play hard, you probably won’t have a problem with him. He also wants you to play smart, know situations, be willing to give yourself up for the team and never lose sight of the bottom line: winning.

Last time I bring this up...
Soooooooooooooo, playing smart, knowing situations, giving yourself up for the team and never losing sight of the bottom line should at least earn Aybar a spot in the dog house… or on the bench where he belongs?
for the game after he missed that squeeze right?
or the game after he knocked in the go ahead run?
What was Scioscia supposed to smack him or something?
I’m actually just confused here.
Bunting
Is something that you should have learned in little league. Okay, he grew up in Dominican Republic and they didn’t have little league. Somewhere in the minors at least, please. Doesn’t matter where the ball is, get a piece of the bat on it. Common sense.
Don’t give me that shit about his “Game winning hit”…. he was lucky. The entire series he looked like ass and then what, he all of a sudden became a guy you can count on. Absolutely not.
Agree his series was awful. He shares the blame with HK and GA for the loss.
But, he young and should be given another shot. And his defense is awesome.
DR probably has FETAL League
they are producing MLB’ers at an alarming rate.

i was just confused how Scioscia was supposed to punish a guy when the season was over. that was your complaint against him. i dont think aybar is going to start this year, so that should be enough of the dog house.
and aybar was the team’s best bunter last year. these things just happen.
im just trying to see this connection with aybar to a knack on scioscia. i agree aybar had a bad series, so did several other players.
