Other teams./
I have no idea if this has ever been discussed on this site, but i was just curious on what other teams everybody liked. Its obvious were all angel fans here with the same goal in mind. What gets me is when i see a car with an angels sticker right next to a new england patriots sticker? WTF is up with that?
MLB - Angels
NFL - 49ers
NHL - Kings
NBA - Lakers
NCAA - The typical USC and UCLA

other teams:
NFL – Colts (although i don’t follow NFL too closely)
NHL – Ducks (same story as NFL)
NBA – Lakers (same… sensing a pattern here?)
NCAA – Boise State (this one’s an obsession like the Angels)

I just read your post a bit closer...
it actually makes me sick to see the number of 49er fans that are also Angel fans… I don’t get THAT…
Granted, the Rams left Anaheim, I understand some Rams hate here on this board, but…
To be an LA fan AND an SF fan just doesn’t make sense. You have the whole north-south bit and the fact that the Rams and 49ers hated each other. The 49ers owned Anaheim Stadium for quite a while, I’ll admit, but it certainly led to my disliking that franchise even more.
Generally, back in the day, if you were an Angels fan, you were also a Rams fan. Just sayin’.
As you were.

Not much of a rivalry any longer STL – SF just doesn’t have the ring that LA – SF once had. Further, both teams suck (mine much worse than yours BTW), so the rivalry is a joke at this point.

dads from SF, grandparents and family up there
born in orange county. Grew up rooting for the 49ers (born waaay to late to be an LA rams fan), and naturally for the angels. Also a huge Cal(Berkeley) fan. Both parents, an aunt, uncle, brother went/go there, and i want to go there too. Hate the As though. I am a laker fan, but not so much anymore. And the chargers are my AFC team. Ducks for the NHL

Hmm
NFL—49ers (Dad’s side of the family is from SF; I don’t really follow pro football) (sometimes Chargers?)
NHL—Ducks, I suppose
NBA—Gotta be Lakers? Again don’t follow pro basketball that closely. Enjoyed the Bulls in the 90s, though that’s kind of like a socal kid becoming a Baahstiin fan, so I don’t admit it (except, you know, in public).
NCAA—Stanford/UCLA (U$C on some rare occasions when it’s playing outside the Pac-10)

Georgia Frontiere effectively killed it for me, and the league has gotten sillier since.
It’s the Angels and Lakers for me, with the occasional soccer match. Who will join me at the Home Depot Center for the USA-Sweden friendly this month? Yeah, no Ibrahimovic, but you’ll still have to wear blue and yellow anyway (Larsson makes his return!).

yeah well they had beat Houston earlier in the year.....
however they were aided by the fact that a hurricane was coming through Texas thus helping keep Houston’s pass happy offense in check…..
They played em tough in the bowl though and the really great thing is (I believe) they are only losing three starters total………and only like 4 more next year….so they’re young and should be in the thick of the MWC again next year (assuming BYU, UTAH, TCU dont improve anymore) A top 2-3 finish should be in order.

You and me both...
…if Manchester United win the Championship this year, they’ll tie us on 18 and we’ll never hear the end of it (well, I certainly won’t).
Look at the upside – 4 of the 5 hardest fixtures have already been played (Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, Everton away), we’ve already beaten United once, we’re 3 points clear and we did this with Torres only starting 6 games in the first half.
We’ll be better than that in he 2nd half of the season.
Having said that, sticking one on Real Madrid, the World’s smuggest sporting team (ahead of Boston, New York), in the tournament they believe to be their birth-right, would be hugely satisfying…

Why so hard on hockey? It seems difficult to play and tough to learn. Basketball and baseball, in my opinion, are much easier to learn and play. I just don’t understand your “pathetic excuse for a sport” comment.

where i'm from people have huge hard-ons for hockey...
it annoys the hell out of me. they way they talk about it. the way hockey players act around here (like they are gods of a sport that more than three states in this country care about). everything.
but what bothers me the most about hockey is the fact that fluke deflections can change the entire outcome of a game. if a team is down one goal with five minutes left, the game is more or less over (except the few exceptions where the team in the lead blows it).
i mean, if a team is down one score with fifteen seconds left, there is really no way to draw up a play to be executed to tie or win. in baseball a team can execute in the ninth to score a run. in basketball a play can be ran with ten seconds left to take the lead or tie. in football there’s the two minute drill. in hockey, the excitement of these situations just doesn’t exist.

seriously
i’m not a hockey nut but i do casually follow the sport. it is a great game with highly skilled athletes. you can definitely draw up plays with 10sec left on the clock. 15sec is lifetime in hockey.
fluke deflection? like a fluke error late in a game that might cost a team a game in the WS? Buckner?

i completely and utterly disagree with your first point. thats ridiculous.
how often does a team call a timeout with 15 seconds left in a hockey game, draw up a play, and execute it to score a goal before the end of regulation? almost never. all the defense has to do is dump the puck out to the other side of the ice. 15 seconds in hockey is not a lifetime, its the exact opposite – comparable to half a second in basketball.
in response to your second point:
a fluke error BY ITSELF doesn’t often effect the outcome of a game. someone had to get on base before the error didn’t they? unless it is a four base error/combination of errors, it takes someone to execute first and either get on base before the error or drive in the runner who reached on an error.

wait
were talking about calling a timeout and drawing up a play off a faceoff. if the team that needs the goal wins the faceoff then 15sec is eternity to put up a good shot on goal. yes its easy for the defense to dump it but its not like hockey is high scoring game.
how many basketball games end with a game winning shot out of a timeout? probably more then hockey but hockey is harder to score a goal then basketball.
without a fluke error the other player wouldn’t have scored. game would have been over.

i guess my argument boils down to the "excitement factor"
the ninth inning in baseball, the final two minutes in football, and the final minute in basketball are all far more exciting than the last five minutes of a hockey game.
