WBC Preliminary Roster

PrintToday, Team USA announced its preliminary roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic. Right now, the team consists of 22 players (including 3 Angels)... the final roster of 45 players gets set next week. I brought this up because our team is freaking STACKED!
Right now, Team USA's lineup could shape up like this:
Curtis Granderson RF
Derek Jeter SS
Grady Sizemore CF
Ryan Braun LF
David Wright 3B
Kevin Youkilis 1B
Chipper Jones DH
Brain McCann C
Dustin Pedroia 2B
With a rotation of:
Roy Oswalt
Jake Peavy
John Lackey
???

John Lackey on the same team as Dustin Pedroia.
recipe for disaster??? who knows, but with those comments he made about DP’s double in game 4 of the ALDS “calling it cheap.” Anybodys guess

on a side note – the guy is pretty small

first thing that stands out:
team USA is very athletic and has a lot of speed. No real easy outs in that lineup and our bullpen is NASTY from what i saw (Fuentes, Nathan, Putz, etc)
the bullpen is SICK
Fuentes, Nathan, Putz, Broxton, Shields, and Ryan.
that would scare the hell outta me!
oh, and not only is the lineup fast, but they’re powerful and know how to get on base. just about every one of those guys has a career OBP of .350+, with most of them around to .380 mark.

if they're not wearing a sox uniform
cheer them on, they’re great players, you can’t deny that to be honest. hate me if you want, but i’d love to have a guy like Youk (great ops, gets on base, plays both corners) on the Angels, if you can’t admit that then you’re just stubborn.

i agree
we can hate them all we want during the actual season, but guys from all over the majors are getting together an playing for our country… that’s bigger than any stupid rivalry we may have with them during the season.
i’ll be rooting for them.

I hate the Red Sox more than I hate America. Since, actually, I love America. And really really really really really really really really really really really really hate the Red Sox.

Unlike some of the other Massholes on “that team,” I think Pedroia’s a bit classier. Somehow I don’t see him staying in Beantown too long.

i just remember a sunday night baseball when joe morgan talked about how pedroia trash talks catchers when he’s at the plate and is cocky and morgan thought it was awesome. Of course, if he wasnt on the red sox, he’d be showing the other guys up

I totally disagree
He doesn’t appear classy to me at all, and seems like he’ll be a long-time Red Sox.

RP – Carlos Marmol, Damaso Marte, some other dudes I’m probably missing
Sadly, the way I see it, Dominica will chew up, masticate, and spit out USA before they know what happened.
Sucks that we don’t have Chase Utley. And why is Jeter playing?

Well the Dominicans roster was stacked
in the first WBC also. Did they win, no. Thats why they play the game. And i doubt Vlad is going to play or did he already commit? And Manny well that might be the only team he plays for in ’09 so he might be bitter and just quit all together. i am not scared, but personally do not care. The italians are gonna take it all the way the got PIAZZA as a coach haha.
