I would have done the same thing. Vlad wasn’t having a great series up to that point.

that Moreno’s comment might shine some light on his thoughts regarding Vlad’s future with the Angels.

In fairness,
a healthy Vlad takes that much solid wood on a fastball over the plate and at the knees and sends it into orbit, not one hop to CF. That game winning hit actually proved that, right now, Vlad is a shell of himself. Meanwhile, Torii is still in his prime.
Besides, you also set up a force out at every base to close out the game.
