Why Francona Should Not Have IBB'd Torii
Interesting article. Clearly one man's opinion, but worth discussion nevertheless.

This made me laugh:
“It was a move of such cosmic stupidity that a loss was the only possible outcome in an ordered universe.
This one episode has provided me with more proof of the existence of a Supreme Being than every Bible ever written."
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.
Yea I laughed at that too.
I may even steal that one for my sig…
As far as the walk goes, even if Tito thinks that Paps has a better chance of getting Vlad out, it was a bad move because it loaded the bases.
With the bases loaded, Pappelbon HAD to throw strikes. If he nibbles at the corners he risks a walk which ties the score and moves the winning run to third and the insurance run to scoring position. If he pitches to Torii, he can mix it up better, waste some pitches and if Torii doesn’t bite, then he pitches to Vlad with the bases loaded. If he gets Torii to fish for a bad pitch he stands a good chance of getting him out.
He Gave Up
Wanted to go fishing or something. Paps himself said that right when he leaves the ballpark he won’t feel a thing.
Pure melodrama. It's the Boston way.
Come Spring Training we are gonna hear all about how they are rallying around revenge, or unfinished business, or a come back of the underdogs, etc. And epochal stories about how they felt on the way out the door and how it will be motivating them all season (their take on the Adenhart effect). But noen of those memories will include anything about going fishing.
You too can be a baseball media analyst! Just don't allow your need to be wrong in public to get in the way of your ignorance.
