Angels - Phillies: "Spoilers' Series 2009!"
I'm throwing my support behind the Angels in the ALCS. Here's why:
1. I live and work in the NYC metro area, seeing thousands of downtrodden Yankees fans would be an incredible joy.
2. Bobby Abreu. I was, and remain, a huge fan. Smartest hitter I've ever seen, and horribly underappreciated during his time in Philadelphia. If the Phillies can't win the Series, it's gotta be the Angels.
3. No one at FOX/MLB wants Angels - Phillies. I hope we can spoil their pre-written storylines, Jeter/Torre gabfests, "zOMG MANNY BEING MANNY!" B.S. and just force FOX to actually (gasp!) broadcast real, gimmick-free baseball.
4. I'm grateful that the Angels extracted Vladimir Guerrero from the NL East. That guy always, always murdered the Phillies.
5. For Nick Adenhart and Harry Kalas.
I hope you'll consider throwing your support behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS. Anything that disappoints Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and the FOX/MLB mediaplex has to be good, right?

As I mentioned in another post...
…my girlfriend is a Phillies fan (of extremely recent vintage, following an extended work trip to Philladelphia from Blighty this summer), so it would certainly add a little spice to things over the next few weeks.
On the flip-side though, Angels / Dodgers would be tremendous.
Frankly, I’d just be delighted to be there, opponents be damned.

I would root for the Phillies
if only because your name is awesome.

I'll root for this:
Dodgers win 3 straight, Phillies win 4 straight. Just to see the shock on Dodger fan’s faces

We are certainly not a SPOILER
our talent is and has always been legit competition. However, spoiler in the sense that blind yankee-red sox fools won’t have seen it coming.

Spoiler in the sense that...
Fox is practically orgasmic at the thought of a Yankee / Dodger WS…

yes
That’s exactly what I meant, thanks. Definitely not trying to imply that the Angels are “undertalented” in any way. Abreu remains one of my favorite players ever.
You should hear all the Yankees fans I live around and work with, they’re basically already printing their Yankees vs. Dodgers t-shirts.

If theres a Yankee/Dodger WS
I would not know what to do with myself. Strike anyone?
I really cant pick a winner out of the two teams I hate the most in the MLB
That'll only happen if that one prospect is the second coming of Christ and redemption for mankind can only be achieved by smacking many balls out of the yard.

I'm rooting for the Phillies
to be the team out of the NL. My best friend is a Phillies Fan. So Angels – Phillies is my top choice followed by Angels – Dodgers.
We're putting the band back togehter.

Phillies/Angels sounds good to me
Just because I’m already sick of the 10 minutes a night the Dodgers get and the 30 second sound bite for the Angels on the local newscasts. Oh, not to mention all of my friends who are Dodger fans who think their sweep of the Cards is the second coming of the Namath Jets over the Colts.

I don't want to see a freeway world series. No.
If the Angels lose we’ll have to hear it for years from so-called fans breaking in their first blue hat in 2009. If the Angels win their will be stabbings. Possibly riots. What’s the difference between Angel fans and Dodger fans?
We don’t shit where we eat.
I’m throwing my wholehearted support and Noetic focus behind the Phillies.

bring on the doyers...
what could be better than going red sox, yankees, dodgers and winning it all?
but to be honest, i’m really just focused on the task at hand.

the task at hand is huge
but to dream a little about going through the red sox, yankees and then the dodgers…..that would mark the official arrival of The Angels to the world. those are 3 major pillars in the history of the game, what a gauntlet. ok, dream over, let’s beat the yanks. :)

Can you argue my point, though?
I know for certain that the games were broadcast in Jamestown, ND. There must be a few fans that stuck by the Halos even after Erstad moved on…….
I love this team.

Before ND I lived with my Dad in California
I was taken to an Angels game in 1996 and saw Troy Pervical close out the Rangers, and I’ve been a fan ever since.

I would imagine nobody at Fox/MLB/ESPN want Angels-Dodgers.
My guess as to east coast media wish list order of precedence would be:
1) Yankees-Phillies (all East coast, all the time)
2) Yankees-Dodgers (let’s remake those 70’s classics we grew up with and be just like grownup broadcasters)
3) Phillies-Angels (at least we have some Northeastern spin)
4) Dodgers-Angels (have we mentioned Brett Favre is playing Sunday?)
You too can be a baseball media analyst! Just don't allow your need to be wrong in public to get in the way of your ignorance.
by Stirrups on Oct 13, 2009 5:05 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
No way.
Yankees-Dodgers is top on the wish list. 2 major markets. Old school rivals. Joe torre storyline. Manny Ramirez v ARod. It’s a veritable bonanza of media goodness.
Then Yankees- Phillies. NY market is huge.
The Angels-Dodgers. Freeway series is still a good storyline to hype.
Angels-Phillies has no storyline at all.
by BruinHalo on Oct 13, 2009 6:24 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions 0 recs
although its not THAT big a storyline..
Angels-Phillies would give Bobby a chance to stick it to all those Philly fans that used to harp on him.

Freeway series is likely to get horrible ratings, though.
Both Yankees Mets and Angels-Giants garnered little interest outside of their respective states, despite everything Zu and I could do to the contrary. >_>

game two the advertise the fuck out of the Bal@Min or NYG@No man. They will probably talk about these two games more than when they are broadcasting the Angels@Yankees on Saturday.
