Figgy's 4-Game Brutality Streak(s)
So, has Chone Figgins gone through a four-game stretch this year remotely as brutal as this postseason's 0-fer-16 w/ just one walk? Why yes, he did, from May 8-12, when he was 0-fer-14 w/ just one walk. What did he do in, oh, the 12 games immediately following? This:
That's 22 hits, 5 walks, 7 runs, 7 stolen bases, and a batting line of .396/.448/.491.
Yes, I realize that looking at him now he seems lost, bewildered, scared, weird. But then he always looks terrible when going through an offensive rut. It's strange for Figgins & most other good big league players to maintain such a low level of suckitude for much longer than he already has.

I'll vote in a couple games.
some of his at bats have not looked good at all. Maybe Chone needs to go up there and just surprise the pitcher by swinging at one of those 1st pitch fastballs he’s been getting, just to keep ’em honest.
This team is our extended family, That's why we love them no matter what the record, no matter what the score.

I certainly hope so
because as of right now, he appears to already be a free agent and playing for a team that’s not ours.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Yea, Figgy is going to bust out today
AJ is mainly a fastball pitcher, and one who has control problems at times. That is a great matchup for Figgy. Unless AJ’s control is uncharacteristically good, Figgy will wreak havoc at the plate and on the basepaths.

Its a team game dude,
but figgy has not done anything to help us and its only a matter of time until he gets figgy with it. I think its pretty dumb to hate on one player on your team unless its Jeffery when hes up to bat, but ill save that for another day. Give credit to C.C. he did his job and showed us why the Yankees payed him so much.

What's been frustrating me the most
is the number of strikeouts looking he’s had – almost like he’s trying to walk everytime rather than get a hit, which with his speed could always turn into a double. I don’t know how many looking K’s he’s had, but it seems everytime I look he’s getting rung up

To add to Matt's point ...
Figgins hasn’t only struggled this post-season, he’s been a complete disaster (save 2008) playing in October.

An OPS of 468 in 103 AB?! Frankly, I’m not interested in giving serious money to a guy that is such a wash out on the biggest stage.

Dude he sucks
listen, I love Figgy during the season and hopefully your right but, he has never had those kind of numbers in the post season and not even close he is batting around 182 lifetime in the post season. A huge sample size of over 100 AB’s.
But I hope your right cause I know he’s gonna be in the line up today but I just wish Izzy would get in there for him soon if he doesn’t have a descent game tonight.

Huge sample size?
Joe Morgan hit .182/.323/.348 in 222 postseason plate appearances. Did he suck, too? Sub him out for Macier Izturis, would ya?
It’s not hard to find Hall of Famers who posted lousy numbers in the—yes!—small sample size of October baseball against great teams. Willie Mays hit .247/.323/.337 in 99 postseason plate appearances. Stan Musial hit .256/.347/.395 in 99 PAs. Dave Winfield hit .208/.304/.337 in 116 PAs.
Some more:
Tony Perez: .238/.291/.378 in 189 PAs.
Ozzie Smith: .236/.325/.292 in 169.
Mike Schmidt: .236/.304/.386 in 158.
Jim Rice: .225/.313/.366 in 80.
But yeah, he’s been stankin’ up the joint.

I should hasten to add...
… Figgy’s postseason stats make Joe Morgan’s look great.

I was thinkin te same thing Matt.
I just told my girlfriend that when he does this, he usually comes out of it with 3 or 4 hits.
I sure am pulling for him.

we are all pulling for him......
its gonna be hard to win this thing without him.
