Angels Fan Down!

So, my wife is 25 weeks pregnant, thank you, thank you. She's an Orange County native, and life-long Angels fan. Yesterday afternoon, our Dr. discovered that she was already dilated about 3 cm, and rushed her to the hospital. To make a long story no less than 75 words, she underwent surgery to stitch her cervix closed (sorry if your squeamish). This will hopefully keep our unborn baby girl Angels fan, Melody, in the womb for another few weeks. If she marinates a little longer, she can be delivered prematurely without much risk of deformity. So, I'm telling the HH community because I know many of you are believers, and will pray for Melody, Stacey, and me. We've already bought Melody a Rally Monkey onesie, so she's gotta pull through, right? Believe in the power...

We got to watch the ALCS, game 1 in the hospital room, but my wife was taken into surgery in about the 5th inning. When the doctor came to get me afterward, and I walked into the recovery room, her first words were, "How are the Angels doing?" What a wonderful woman. I wish I had better news for her, but they were already down 3 to 1. Let's hope they take game 2 tonight while we watch from the hospital bed. Go Angels! Do it for Nick, and do it for the unborn Angels fans like Melody!

Best of luck to you, your wife and your little one...

…I hope Stacey had a comfortable night and the team can give her something to cheer her tonight.

Good luck.

My younger daughter was born 7 weeks preemie. Had to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks, but she’s just fine.

I’m sure everything will work our for you. All the best.

congrats on Melody, this is an example of excellent parenting but...

you might want to keep your wife away from any playoff action because the stress might be too hard on the baby. plus i would hate to see your wife jump with joy as the angels beat the piss out of the skanks and while your wife goes up little Melody is pulled down by gravity.

Best wishes Manatee

our prayers are with you. Sounds like she is just as anxious to see them as we are (and Mrs. Manatee is AWESOME).

On a personal note, I insisted on a release form rehab yesterday (they wanted another four days) for the leg amputation because I have tickets for tonight’s game. Mrs. Moondoggy is going to experience her first baseball game as an ALCS game in the Bronx (she is going to FREEZE).

So win tonight for Nick, Melody and all the rest of the Angel fans with more passion than sense.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Good luck with everything!

I had a preemie too, and he’s just fine now, but I hope that little Melody stays put at least for another few weeks!

I'm not superstitious, but I'm a little stitious.

You're all in our prayers. My sister was a premie in 1952 and spent 3 months in the hospital.

She still holds the record for the smallest baby born at that particular hospital, 1 pound 9 ounces. She’s fine, but it was tough on our parents. I was 2 when she was born and I was jealous because she got to ride in an ambulance with the sirens on when she was just a few minutes old because the little hospital in Covina couldn’t handle the emergency.

THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!

This is why the games do matter and also why they don't.

What you are going through in real life is beyond any tough plight that Angels fans are going thru and yet baseball is there for us to leave the brutal moments the real world has.

Best wishes on health and prosperity for your family.

…I hope to read another post from you that Melody was delivered and is comfortably resting with mom and dad marveling once again at the miracle of new life.

Best of luck to all of you.

I have 4.5 year old triplets...

They came into the world at 32 weeks are are rockin’ like Dokken.

Get her to 30 weeks and all will be fine. My wife was fully dilated (10 cm) for the last 5 weeks of her pregnancy. Tell your wife that the best thing she can do is stay on her back to keep pressure off of her cervix. Bed rest means on her BACK in bed or on the couch. Not sitting….

Just an FYI.

RIP Nick...

interjecting a little nursie wisdom

optimal position is on her left side completely flat (one pillow usually OK) and a pillow between her legs or under her bent right leg.

I hope everything turns out all right. Good luck with everything. :P

Thanks everyone.

As of today, all is still well with little Melody and Stacey. But we still have a long road ahead. I knew I could count on you all for support, even though I don’t know any of you face to face. That’s pretty neat, in my opinion.

No matter what happens from here on, it has been a great season.
