Beer Thread
I don't drink anymore but when I did, I drank Bud. In one bar, my nickname was Budweiser Matt.
What is (or was) your favorite beer?

Too many to list..

Don't drink beer anymore.
Well, hardly ever. I (mostly) quit when I noticed my waist expanding faster than the current deficit (that was somewhere in my mid to late 30’s). When I did (or do) drink beer, I mostly enjoye(d) dark beers.
Now I’m a damn wino. Could be worse…
mine...
crown lager (australia)

West Coast is the best coast
Caldera brewing IPA (in a can)
Standing stone DIPA, straight from the tap into growlers
For the pregame and first inning, Full Sail Limited, it is similar to Corona but way better, with lime. Also full sail IPA for the late innings.
Bridgeport IPA,
+1 for Anderson Valley Hop ottin
This is a great thread.

West Coast Beer Snob Too.
-Stone Brewing Co. Arrogant Bastard Ale is one of the best dam ales ever created
- Ballastpoint Brewing Co. Big Eye IPA is way wicked.
- Deschutes Brewing Co. Cinder Cone Red Ltd. It’s like drinking liquid candy
- Anderson Valley Brewing Co. Boont Amber Ale. Smooth and sweet
- Bear Republic Brewing Co. Red Rocket Ale. When you want to get f**ked up with good shit.
God needed a starter. RIP #34

Agree with Stone Brewing
Arrogant Bastard is amazing, Double Bastard sounds good but don’t do it- trust me.
If you ever want a good beer that will hit you like a truck try Jew’bilation 12 from He’brew. In fact all the He’brew line is pretty good.
My go to beer used to be Sam Adams before I started boycotting everything from Boston, now I’d prefer a Sierra Nevada.
It isn't that I hate Boston, just that I hate Bostonians.

Well done on all those!!!
Ballast Point: I love the Yellow tail Pale Ale also
Deschutes: Porter and Mirror Pond PA are personal Favorites
Lost Coast Brewery: Great White. Without question my favorite, especially for pre-game.

Ouch
but it is a “fruity” beer now that I think about it. What’s your beer of choice?
Let me guess
Arrogant Bastard?

This is the truth.
Arrogant Bastard and IPA are great and pretty accesible. Great brewery.

Bud Light.
I gladly experience the bevy of macro brews and love many of them.
But there is no better beer to drink during a hot summer ball game than Bud Light. Anyone that tells you different is a god damn communist.

A friend signed me up for the beer of the month club...
…knowing I don’t drink beer. He figured he could come over and drink the beer he got as a gift to me. All the beers were from micro-breweries aroung the USA.
One of the beers was “Trout Slayer Ale” from a micro-brewery in Montana. It was damn good. Give it a try if you can find it.
I got revenge on my friend by re-gifting most of the beers I received in the mail. Smartass.
Beer of the month club sounds A LOT more fun than the book of the month club.
I did a quick search on bevmo for trout slayer, looks like i’ll have to pick some up!

2. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
3. Mad River Pale
4. Dos Equis Amber
I love this team.
Dos Equis -- love it.

South of the Border – Sussex Best

What do you think of Old Speckled Hen?
I saw it on a TV show and was able to find some here in the states. I got sick off it one night and puked by brains out (not drunk).

Not a favourite, I don't drink it...
…tend to find it mostly in bottles rather than in the cask and real ale out of the bottle doesn’t do it for me. It kind of sneaks up on you too – >5% alcohol.
The brewery, Greene King / Morland, doesn’t produce much worth drinking.

Good for Guinness, not so good for ale
…don’t really see it in cans here. People who drink ale in the UK just don’t buy them – they’re for lager.

Perfect distraction.........
1.Alaskan Amber
2.Fat Tire
3.Peroni
Stay on the damn bag!!
Nun taken........
More for me
Stay on the damn bag!!
here are a few of many
Murphy’s Stout
Widmer Droptop Amber
Newcastle Brown
Eye of the Hawk – Mendocino Brewing Company
Gordon Biersch Marzen.
If you like Gordon Biersch brews, I recently found out that Trader Joes and Costco’s store brand are brewed by Gordon Biersch…. and they are way cheaper and just as good.
I can't even fathom
Bud or Coors
Stay on the damn bag!!
I like Pyramid Hefewizen
And most other beers I try. Not a fan of Miller, Coors, or Bud though.
RIP #34
I like...
1. Indio (unfortunately not exported out of Mexico)
2. Bass Ale
3. Rincon Red – Santa Barbara Brewing Co.
Tough call. My top five most consumed:
Black and tans of all sorts
Summit EPA
Smithwicks
Heineken
Fat Tire
One thing of note: a beer that requires or is typically served with fruit is no friend of mine.
RIP NA
I'll just about drink anything.
I have been loving Blue moon as of late…with or without the orange slice.
Stella Artois
However, some of the best micro I’ve tasted was from, of all places, Salt Lake City (Wasatch Polygamy Porter).
I bought Polygamy Porter for the box/name alone
and yeah, it turned out to be pretty damn good
Depends on my current financial situation
With lots of money to spend : Anything from the Lost Coast Brewing Company or the Bear Republic Brewery
Feeling a little frugal: Budweiser
The quantity situation: Pabst Blue Ribbon
Just say when
finally...
someone mentions Lost Coast! All their stuff is great. Humboldt County: shit town, great great exports!
Also love:
Newcastle
BJ’s Nutty Brunette
Chimay Grande Reserve
All the Stone Brews
Hoegaarden
Murphy’s Red
Tap Room Amber
Stella
Sapporo
and for mass consumption you can’t go wrong with Bud/Bud Lite.
God I love beer.
oh and how can I forget
Firestone Double Barrell. I once got to watch a game from their suite at the stadium. Great time. And Stella is quite nice when I want a lager.

i might have to switch to budweiser because...
that commercial makes it look like so much fun. i think the blonde girl in the orange is cathy lee crosby from “that’s incredible” and nailing joe theismann fame.
Here's my rundown
I have still yet to find that perfect beer, these are the beers I most often choose.
Stone Pale, IPA, Arrogant Bastard, Ruination, Levitation
Lagunitas I.P.A., (or anything else they release)
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Fat Tire
Shiner Bock
Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale
Deschutes Green Lakes Organic Ale
Firehouse Pale Ale ($5.99 at Albertsons for a six pack in SD)
And last but not least, anything from the tap at Pizza Port (I hope some of you have heard of the place).
#34, never forget.
depends on the progress/outcome of the game
Sierra Nevada—just about everything (grew up right around Chico)
Bintang—-sentimental favorite from the Bali trips
Blue Moon—for those blistering Blues games in the summer
Amstel Light—when I’m feeling fat
Sol—for sweltering Mexican food/vacations
I feel...unusual
Awesome...
Glad I’m not the lone homebrewer on the board. LOL
Hmm My list:
1. Great White from Lost Coast
2. Paulaner Original Munich
3. Firestone Walker California Pale Ale
4. Anchor Steam Beer
5. Any Schwarz-Weiss

I'm a simple man, with an unassuming palate when it comes to beer.
I like MGD and High Life, an occasional Heineken, and if the mood strikes me, no lie, a 40 of Olde English. I don’t drink malt liquor as much as I used to, but it still knocks me on my ass!
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
Hornsby's Draft Cider
Widmer Hef
Blue Moon
Black Butte Porter
My favorite beer is actually from McMenamin’s, which is a pub chain up in Oregon. They brew Terminator Stout and Ruby, which is a raspberry beer. Mix em together, half and half, and you get the Rubenator, which is fantastic.
I feel the need, the need...for speed!
South of the Border Cerveza/Cerveja
Imperial / Pilsen (COSTA RICA)
Bohemia (BRASIL)
Negra Modelo (MEXICO)
Witkap Pater (BELGIUM)
Guiness (IRELAND)
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!
And just so everyone knows...
The University of Wisconsin student section does a little “shin-dig” to the tune of this song, the “Bud Song,” at every home sporting event. Check the LINK out. And if you have time, look at some other related videos to see how much fun that place is.

"Hey Norm, what would you say to a beer?"
“Daddy wuvs you…”
Fat Tire – the best.
Newcastle Brown Ale
Boddingtons
Without a doubt
Red Tail Ale. It’s the only beer I know that consistently tastes as fresh and lively as a good home-brewed beer.
I think the finest beer in the world is actually Pilsner Urquell, and if I lived in the Czech Republic and could get it fresh on tap I’d probably go around with a light buzz all the time. But here, you never know whether it’s going to be light-struck.
What we've got can't be bought
I went to Prague for a weekend in 2006...
…to this pub where Havel took Clinton a couple of years back. They just don’t settle for a light buzz there – seeming to aim generally for somewhere between ‘crippled’ and ‘comatose’. The pubs only tend to sell one drink as well – whichever of the two big beers they prefer. No faffing about with soft-drinks or wine, no TV or music – the guy dishing out the beer (I couldn’t really say barman, because I don’t recall seeing a bar as such, just this beer filling zone working at overdrive) comes round with a bit of torn cardboard and a pencil and just marks with a pencil line each time you order more and that’s your tab. It works out at about a dollar a beer (these are not small beers either).
Just a highly efficient, stripped down venue for getting you as drunk as possible in the minimum amount of time.
I see red people
I've always wanted to visit Prague
Not necessarily that particular place, but still, I get a picture of a place where people at least take life a bit more seriously than hereabouts. I mean, I don’t see the group you describe being too concerned about Brangelina or Balloon Boy.
What we've got can't be bought
hmm
3. Dos Equis XX
2. Smithwick’s
1. Simpler Times! Lager. If you’ve never tried this beer, head on down to your nearest Trader Joe’s and grab some. They sell it for $3 a 6-pack, and it has a surprisingly wonderful taste and a 6.2% alcohol content!
World Series '09 - In Memory of #34 Nick Adenhart!

Anything from Wasatch Brewing co … They’ve got a great Apricot Hefeweisen ….
Also I’m currently vacationing in Hawaii & loving the Longboard from Kona brewing co …. It’s on tap everywhere here … So good!
I'm not superstitious, but I'm a little stitious.
