Question regarding Swisher not tagging up on 3rd
I was curious why the Angels thought Swisher did not tag up? I wondered if the Angels scouted that umpire and discovered he doesn't pay attention and tried to fool him? I've seen that happen before and if so that's a slick move. The broadcast only showed Torii Hunter running in from center field complaining. Anybody at the park notice if other Angels complained as well, or was it just Torii?
Also, I thought Torii's deception play (pretending he was going to catch the ball) on the double in the left field gap which kept Posada on 2nd was slick as well. Posada looked like such an idiot.

From where I was sitting Torii fooled Posada so bad it was awesome
As for the tag-up play, it looked like Napoli was also yelling for an appeal. But I am not sure if that was after Torii started to yell it out and Napoli was just agreeing with him.

Torii fooled the heck out of Posada AND McClelland that inning.
Either Tim McClelland really was trying for a make-up call on the Swisher tag (doesn’t seem very likely that he saw it well, considering how well he saw the double-play non-call right in front of him) or the reason he “believed in his heart” that Swisher left early was because of Torii’s insistence that he left early. At first I thought Torii was just deking the umpire the way he deked Posada. But after watching several replays, I think it was the fact that Swisher was moving one foot before the ball was caught that made Torii really believe he left early.
Far too many times I’ve heard this postseason, “well, the runner/batter/fielder never really reacted or complained, so it must have been a good call,” which is complete bullshit. If you’re relying on the player’s reactions rather than what your own eyes see, then it is time to retire.
It could happen! Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
