Angels chances to win this series
It is really dumb for a sports fan to listen to radio or analysts these days. Almost every analyst I have listened to assume the Yankees are winning the ALCS even though they still have to win a game. I mean its almost forgotten that the Angels are still playing. They have reseilency showed in Game 5 after they coughed up a lead and came back. Hopefully the Angels can show up and prove everybody wrong. Everybody is like Pettitte is so good such a good postseason pitcher here are some stats 15-9 with a 3.90ERA. That is solid but not great, so he is definitly hittable. If the bats can strike early in the game and often a lot of doubt can start creeping into the Yankees heads. Game 7 if they get there, will be a crap shoot regardless of CC's past performances. Never give up faith hopefully we will have nice relaxing games that will never be in doubt. God bless the Angels fans who had heart attacks last night. Also what do you guys think are the keys to the rest of the series?

Figgins & Abreu
If they reach base it puts the early pressure on the skanks. We need a repeat of the early innings of game 5 the rest of the way!
New siggy line coming soon!

We are going to take both in NY.
C.C. and Petitte will give up some runs.

Las Vegas will give you almost 6 to 1 odds that the Yanks win
at least 1 of the next two games. So it doesn’t appear that likely. I’m still holding out some hope. I’ve got WS tickets.

almost every game the Angels have won this postseason...
has had a big AB from Vladdy…if he’s producing the Angels chances are awesome. Keep taking pitches Vladdy, you’re getting more and more pitches to hit !! And at this point, anything productive out of Figgy’s bat is a bonus; Angels are competing without any leadoff production to speak of. Bobby looked pretty good last game.
IT COULD HAPPEN

We gotta rush out of the gates early
Like we did yesterday against Burnett. Gotta put up early runs on Pettitte.
Figgins and Abreu need to hit more, as well as Hunter, Vlad and definitely Juan Rivera.
Above all, I think, is that we need Saunders and Weaver/ Kazmir to be lights out. They need to go at least 6 or 7 innings with 2 or less runs.
I personally think we have a good shot. Pettitte IS hittable and you’re crazy if you think that CC is going to shut them down for a 3rd time.
We WILL beat them.

God bless the Angels fan who had a heart attack after Monday's Game 3 walk-off win!
After Jeff Mathis hit his 11th inning walk-off double off the left-centerfield wall I stayed in my seat in section 427 for about a dozen minutes to let the crowd thin out. I then exited the tunnel near section 429. After visiting the restroom I noticed a man, overweight and about 78, who was really in trouble. Two friends supported him as they slowly progressed along the walkway toward the ramp closest to right field. A second man pulled a beer keg or cola cannister over to use as a seat. The man was helped to a seated position on the ground and he lay back against the keg/cannister with his head and shoulders elevated. I walked into the seating area around section 432 and told an usher that a man needed help. The usher took one look at the situation and summoned the paramedics. I did not stay around as he was being assisted. Most likely the man had suffered a heart attack. I thought it better that he have the heart attack at the game and not at home. If you are going to have a heart area at a sports event it is better to have it just after your team has had an exciting win. It is better to have it after the 11th inning than in the 1st inning! I did not read anything about this in the newspapers, so I think he survived. Nobody gets out of here alive. You never know when you will go to the Big Stadium in the sky. Hopefully this fan will recover sufficiently to go to more Angel games in the future.

Well, I said it earlier and it looks like we all agree here....
The Angels need to score early if they are to win Game 6.
As much as I like Saunders I don’t think he’ll be able to duplicate his Game 2 performance; he really did pitch a great game and it is unlikely he’ll pitch 3 consecutive great games against the Yankees (I went to a game back on Sept. 21st in Anaheim in which he dominated them as well). What this means is that we’ll have to score some runs to win this game, and by that I don’t mean 4-5 but rather 6-7 runs.
I believe this game (if played on Saturday) will be our most difficult game of the season. I think alot of people here are underestimating Pettite however. He is a wily veteran and there is a reason he has the most postseason wins in history. That being said, I do thing we can score off him. The question will be how much, and will the runs come early enough to keep the Yankee crowd out of the game. I think it goes without saying that we cannot strand a bunch of runners like we did in Game 2. I am hopeful however after our Game 5 performance. Perhaps the bats have finally woken up. We shall see.
If we find a way to pull out Game 6 then I DO think we will Win Game 7 — even with Sabathia pitching. All the pressure will be on the Yanks and at that point we would have tremendous momentum. This is it. Game 6 is THE Game. I expect a battle.

I just watched Game 3 of the ALDS again
this time on my new 27" iMac (yes, it is as awesome as you think… and yes, this is my way of bragging about the new computer)… I now have faith again that the Angels will win the WS this year.
Chances to win this year? 100%

Mac gave you faith?
And no viruses? I’m sold! J/K. I’m already a mac user, and I am glad I made the switch.
No matter what happens from here on, it has been a great season.

I've been on mac my whole life.
It was seeing Abreu knock that ball off the monster that did it, Just like that game… this series isn’t over until one team wins 4 games.

I'm jealous... Both of the iMac and getting to watch that again.
I think I’ll go do the half of that scenario that I an actually afford. And I’ll just have to keep reminding myself I got to see that game on the best screen at all - live in person!
It could happen! Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.

Whoops you said ALCS not ALDS... I did not get to watch that game in Fenway!

I feel it is unlikely
Is there a great reason to influence something as high profile as the ALCS? I can’t see it.
That said, if there is any undue influence from any quarters, my feeling is that it would be used on the umpires. This is more due to the potential influene they could have on the game more than what has happened so far… And such influence could just be Mrs. Texiera’s yaught buddy passing influene through an umpire’s wife or something.
It could happen! Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.

Just like they do almost everytime.

Yup.
3rd time through the order, they’ll start busting it open. And I think Junkyard Joe WILL duplicate his last outing. He has always been underestimated, and I think he likes it that way. Quietly kick ass.
No matter what happens from here on, it has been a great season.

Chone is the key. It's pretty amazing they've come this far with him sucking so bad.
The games have been to close because of it. If he was doing his thing, maybe the Angels would win one by more than one run for once. Maybe actually beat them bad.
Happy Birthday to the ground!

I predict an 8-6 victory in Game 6
The events will unfold eerily similar to this game – the names have changed, but the results won’t…

This might sound a little crazy so...
I need some a opinions. Do you think the Mafia can be involved with the Yankees? My friends keep telling me that, they predict that angels take game 6 and Yankees take game 7.

After living here 20 years, I've learned that the mafia's influence is overblown
they can’t exert influence over the cartage industry without screwing it up. There’s a reason why corporate America forced them out of Vegas (now there’s a group to be afraid of). To think they could influence MLB is pure fantasy.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
by Moondoggy on Oct 25, 2009 5:32 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agree with your comments Moondoggy
both about the mafia and especially about corporate America. The “Corporatocracy” is infinitely more powerful and influential. If you’re looking for answers I think you need to look in that direction rather than outdated cartoon scenarios of under the table mafia payoffs and strong arm tactics.

I doubt they would approach players
I think that’s a thing of the past. More likely to happen in boxing where you need flip only one guy to get your desired result. In baseball there are too many wild cards. Plus, there is not alot of reason for a guy with a multi-million dollar contract to take a few extra thousand from the mob — it doesn’t make sense.
I’ve also talked to ex-pro athletes on this subject and have been assured that if a player in a team sport like baseball, football etc was “throwing” a game his teammates would know it.
In basketball point shaving is a different story and could be accomplished very easily by a starting point guard or other player. Witness the 1994 Arizona State point shaving scandal in which Benny Silman bribed Steven “Hedake” Smith and Isaac Burton to manipulate games for his benefit. This stuff is legendary with the Vegas line makers and high rollers.

I am really hoping
the guys can break out of their hitting slump. We have seen signs of it in games 3 and 4.
You have to give credit to the Yanks pitching staff for some of it, but several of the guys have been struggling since before the playoffs. If the bats can heat up, we will take the next two games.
