ALCS Game 6 Postponed

Is there a disturbance in the force, Sith-Rod?

The NY POST is reporting that ALCS Game 6 has been RAINED OUT and is postponed. The game will be played SUNDAY, first pitch at 5:20 PM Pacific Time. Game 7 is scheduled for Monday at 4:57 PM our time.

From all reports, the Yankees will stick with Andy Pettitte to start Game 6 as scheduled. The Angels have given no indication that it will be anyone but Joe Saunders starting Game 6. The possibility of bringing John Lackey back to start Game 7 on three days rest to face CC Sabathia will be the subject of much consideration should the Angels be victorious on Sunday.

If you are hanging out online tonight, Giguere says he is 100%, go visit ANAHEIM CALLING, the new SBN Ducks Blog!

I'm rooting for rain

Cupie and I are going to the Echo & the Bunnymen show tonight (they’re performing “Ocean Rain” in its entirety, with orchestra. yes, i know you don’t care), and we don’t want to get text updates!

by yeswecan on Oct 24, 2009 1:26 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

more rare event than a game 6

One of my fave albums ever, with the orchestration it deserves. Might not ever happen again, whereas the Angels will be here again.

Hopefully it isn't....

But this COULD be the time you ever watch Vladdie and Figgins play for the Angels. I hope for your sake for rain to go with your Rain.

It could happen! Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.

show is at Nokia Theater

If the game is on, then I’ll watch as much as possible from the sports bar in Staples Center across the street.

mlb will want the game played in rain because it slows the Angels running game down

it is supposed to sunny on Sunday, let’s hope for rain of the cats and dogs sleeping together variety and for a sunny Sunday for the Halos.

Angels in 09!

rooting for rain

Let’s get Lackey for a GM 7

by RedAces on Oct 24, 2009 1:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

That is dumb

CC vs. Saunders would be a big mismatch in the Yankees favor. Go for the jugular.

if game 6 is rained out, it’s CC vs. Lackey in 7..close to a push.

Girardi is a dumb man.

by ChrisSimmsSpleen on Oct 24, 2009 1:42 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

they would rather give Andy a shot at it

I guess it kinda makes sense. What if CC lost GM 6 would you want Andy pitching GM 7 vs Lackey.

I guess it might be better having your Ace pitch GM 7 if needed

by RedAces on Oct 24, 2009 2:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

now wait just a second here

Does that say “Yankees win series 3-2”? I don’t believe it’s won until it’s well, WON.

Why not root for rain?

Weaver and Lackey or Saunders and Weaver…it’s no contest.

by ChrisSimmsSpleen on Oct 24, 2009 1:41 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't think they would

If we can get Lackey to pitch in game 7, I think Weaver is a better emergency relief pitcher than Saunders would be and Saunders had a pretty good start in game 2 so I think the best case scenario is Lackey and Saunders

by ryanfea on Oct 24, 2009 1:52 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

it's not that cold.

There is no way Weaver is getting a start out there. You have a better chance of seeing Santana. And I would love to see him as his the ownage on NY.

how come MLB didn't have a contingency plan that coveres weather?

they are forcing games to be played later in the year, when they know full well that weather is going to start to become very dicey. I’m getting really tired of MLB giving Fox the ALCS contract, and not standing up to the NFL when it comes to game scheduling.

The cash-strapped Yankees couldn’t be hassled to put a roof on their shiny new stadium. They’re not as flush with funding as the Seattle Mariners.

Of course it doesn’t actually rain as much in New York during the baseball season as it does in Seattle. Oh wait, never mind.

not to mention the close to $1 billion in public funds that helped to subsidize the Yannks new castle

never mind that the seats are so expensive that they can’t fill the stadium, even during a hard fought ALCS because ticket prices are too high.

OMG

I just got home. (11:40) Here’s my long story:

I arrived at Yankees Stadium with the help of a few Mets Fans only to find a large group of people on the other side of the platform. I thought to myself, "Wow, maybe the weather is pretty bad. As soon as I step of the train, police officers are telling us the game has been canceled. I didn’t believe it because the weather didn’t seem bad at all. I go up the stairs and a downpour descends upon me. I called and rescheduled with Cath for tomorrow. I ran back inside the subway and sat quietly in the corner as I waited for the subway to take me back to Penn Station.

As I waited for the train, I felt lonely in a sea of Yankees fans. Out of nowhere a nice couple dressed in Angels Paraphernalia joined me and suddenly life was not bad. The couple came from Perris, CA. They have been season ticket holders and followed the Angels EVERYWHERE. They were at Game 3 of the ALDS and most of the regular season games that were at New York and Boston. We talked about most of the season and the ramifications of the rain out. He said he would be in section 420 so I hope to see him there. He said he didn’t really like blogs, but he might be interviewed by someone from OC Register. It made my day.

As soon as I arrived to Penn Station, I again was surrounded in a sea of Yankees fans from New Jersey. My train said departure time was 7:45 and I waited patiently in the lobby while getting some mean looks. 7:45 rolled around and no train. 8:15 no train. 8:45 no train. I looked at the screen and saw that all the trains were delayed or canceled. I was pretty pissed and started to walk towards the food strip near the subway when I found one of my Princeton friends. We both waited and entertained each other until the train arrived at around 10. The trip to Princeton lasted a good hour and half, but with my friend at my side it was ok.

I am finally back in my dorm room and I will now sleep. I can’t wait for tomorrow

good luck sleeping

I’m not quite home yet. Ended up going to a friend’s bday party at some swanky lounge, dressed like a baseball fan ready to brave the elements.

For whatever reason, they didn’t kick me out, and I ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money on two drinks and some meh food. But my friend was real happy I showed up (even though she knew she was my fallback).

Can’t wait til tomorrow. :)
