Angels Yankees ALCS Game 6 Lineups Remain the Same?

These lineups for the Angels and Yankees were posted before Saturday's postponement and there is no reason to think they will change for Sunday... What do you think of them? There was talk that Figgins would be demoted to batting 9th, but lo and behold, he remains atop the lineup and the hot bat of Banjo Mathis stays in the mix as well.

Angels
Chone Figgins, 3B
Bobby Abreu, RF
Torii Hunter, CF
Vladimir Guerrero, DH
Kendry Morales, 1B
Howie Kendrick, 2B
Juan Rivera, LF
Jeff Mathis, C
Erick Aybar, SS

Yankees
Derek Jeter, SS
Johnny Damon, LF
Mark Teixeira, 1B
Alex Rodriguez, 3B
Jorge Posada, C
Hideki Matsui, DH
Robinson Cano, 2B
Nick Swisher, RF
Melky Cabrera, CF

Joe Saunders (LHP) @  Andy Pettitte (LHP)

What do you think of these batting orders?

Nice lineup

I like our chances.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

I like our chances too.

Now that Mathis has gotten the Napoli power to his bat.

Game 5 the only two that REALLY under performed were Izturis and Figgins (Rivera honorable mention but he got a leadoff double).

I like Howie batting and moving up in the line up. If Figgy can get it together (we’ve asked this of him for the past 8 games), he’ll be a factor.

The Big Red Machine V.2 is coming this Fall 2009. Go Halos!

"It is what it is" at this stage of the season

The slumps that Figgins, Abreu and Rivera are in is a concern, but the options on the bench are not desirable for an elimination game.

This is the best the Angels have to offer

I believe Saunders is our best available pitcher, and pitching Weaver, Kazmir, and Santana out of the bullpen will really be a great asset to us.

Our offense is starting to heat up, and if there is a Game 7, Lackey is ready to do a rematch against CC.

So yes, this is the Angels at its strongest in the postseason. But I have just a strong feeling that Saunders will pitch extremely well. I don’t know why, I just feel it.

Bottle that and remember it the next time you feel it…

I love this team.

Bobby is far from slumping.

He’s hitting .270 post season with the exact same OPS he’s had during the season.

What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

I like this line-up

as long as Figgins can get heated up. I think Abreu is starting to see the ball better and hopefully Juan can keep it going after that double. Also, Howie hopefully can stay hot against the Yanks and we can light Pettite up!! Saundo is gonna deal!

First we had a Salmon and now we have a Trout, let's see the same results.

Mathis is fine with me...

Good defense. Clutch hitting. He’s got that clean power line drive swing going.

On the flip side, what has Napoli done offensively in this post-season?

God needed a starter. RIP #34

Sorry

Figgins leading off and Mathis in for Naps = Loss.

Im convinced that these trolls haven't watched a napoli at bat for the past 3 months.

and/or havent seen a post season mathis AB.

GTFO.

yeah, really...

mathis realized sometime in october that if you hit the ball to a spot where the other team can’t get it, you can run safely to a base. he’s been great in the post-season thus far.

figgy, on the other hand… he might’ve walked a few times, but he seems to be off his game

by daze on Oct 25, 2009 10:39 AM PDT up reply actions

Exactly...

Napoli’s swing is so long and he is just not making contact. Really poor timing for a slump. Oh well, hopefully he can “learn” to not be so streaky.

I love this team.

Saundo looked loose in the post-postponement interview...

He didnt seem nervous at all. Saundo’s got his swagger back!

Im actually surprised Swisher is in the lineup for the Yanks. But hell, good for us, bad for them.

Do it for Nick '09

by BryanHarvey'sMoustache on Oct 25, 2009 10:51 AM PDT reply actions

We just might consider intentionally walking the bases loaded with two outs to get to him again!

Hmn, but what if Joey G catches on to our strategy and actually pinch hits for him?! Nah, Joe has a soft spot for Swisher and his Struggles.

It could happen! Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.

Scioscia won't change the batting order that much.

Even if Chone is struggling.

Also, I assume that this has been posted somewhere else, but it needs to be reposted. Nice job, MLB. How about you wait until after games have been played to start selling hats and shirts and commemorative coins.

That is *repulsive*

Vomit.

RIP Nick Adenhart.

I'm wondering if there is an Angel page...

It’s pretty normal to build out a page like that and then not create a live link to it. That way if the team wins they can simply create the link and release the page.

Is there a live link to that page or did somebody just happen to find it on the MLB domain?

The Angels stuff his here:

but, notice the slight difference in presentation?

Just another Halo victory

I do this for a living.

If you NEED to have it live early, you gve it a junk URL – but that’s still amatuer hour. You can fully create and test the page in a local environment and ONLY deploy the page live when you want it live. This is a major embarrassment with no excuse AT ALL – and not even nearly the first time it is happened.

It could happen! Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.

I am over watching Rivera GDP and kill rallys. He has had one meaningfull hit all series. Figgy has done better than that.

Why aren’t more people on Rivera? Everyone is talking about Figgins, and for good reason, but really if you look Juan is performing far worse. His defense alone is lackluster. His hitting is worse than shit. When he comes up with runners on, I almost root for him to just strikeout so I don’t have to see another rally killing DP. I mean how many more weak groundballs to short do we have to see?
I say give GMJ a shot. He hit better all September. Maybe it’s a lefty pitcher thing, i couldn’t find the stats (I looked). He is faster, a better defender, and really, can he do any worse at the plate?

I sure hope somebody

…posts that MLB advert for yankee champs gear in the la of anahiem club house before todays game

by RER on Oct 25, 2009 12:05 PM PDT reply actions

hard to argue with Mathis playing

hopefully, the pitcer/catcher relationship won’t be eff’d up. Naps has been catching Saunders for awhile now….

Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34
