I remember going to one of the Disneyland private parties in 1968
and I just vaguely remember that there were “two-fer” tickets, but I think those were much later than 1967.

I went to that game!
The Indians defeated the Angels 4-1 on a 10th inning 3-run home run by Fred Whitfield off of Pete Cimino. I did not to to the Disneyland nightcap. The following day I did go to an Orioles @ Angels twinbill. In the opener solo home runs by Jose Cardenal and Don Mincher in the last of the 9th off of Dave McNally tied the game 4-4. Jim Fregosi had a walk-off single off of Stu Miller to win it in the 10th 5-4. In the nightcap Steve Barber had a no-hitter going until one out in the bottom of the 9th. Fregosi lined a double into the leftfield corner to break Barber’s spell. The Orioles won 3-0.
Note that for that baseball/amusement park doubleheader Disneyland stayed open until 1 a.m. I have never been to Disneyland after midnight. Our most recent Disneyland annual passes expired the second Sunday of March 2009. We will wait at least another year before getting new annual passes. We get Angels season tickets every year, Disneyland annual passes every other year.

Re: I have never been to Disneyland after midnight
I have… Once.
I went to the Disney 25th anniversary back in 1980. Went with 3 friends. This was still back when you needed A-E tickets. The anniversary ticket was a passport, so no worrys about running out of E’s. The event was actually 25 hours inside the park, and we stayed for the whole thing.
One thing that happened, that in retrospect shocks me, was this. One of the four of us was on crutches, and we actually got a set of mouse ears for her that read “Crip”. I can’t believe they actually did that.

I was there all night for Grad Night
back in 1977. There were no tickets needed for the rides that night either, although the “makeout” rides such as Journey Through Inner Space were of course closed for the occasion, and all the boys had to wear a coat and tie.

I nearly got tossed in '80 on Grad Nite.
A bunch of us hopped a moving jitney bus down Main Street. A Keystone Kop chased us, and busted us when we got off. He threatened to toss us, but just gave us a warning.

That will be hard to forget, considering it is about to re-open.
I wonder what John Lackey must think about how long Sosh left Juan Rivera in the playoff lineup?

I've done my own version of this.
Have annual pass for D-land, so went during the day and then caught the Angels for a night game.
Sure as hell didn’t cost $5!

Wow! I missed that, just wondered if Gary Owens was one of the radio personalities you got to meet.

I love Gary Owens!
I grew up listening to him, and his sense of humor warped mine permanently. I met him several years ago at a KMPC reunion; he’s frail from Type 1 diabetes, but still working last I heard.

He went to the Foonman Drive-In Theatre quite often
where the motto was “Come as you are, but stay in your car.”

They did this through the early 80s
only without the private party. There was an afternoon game and then you could go to Disneyland the same Saturday,
I remember my dad buying tickets at least 2 years as a birthday present. Tickets were about $20-30 each. Couldn’t google them….
Anyone else remember these games?
by Lee Stevens' Potential on Oct 27, 2009 12:00 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Sure I remember them!
We have a ticket for the 1978 Angels-Disneyland Fun Day in our display case: $10, and a bargain at that.
And another regular promotion they had for years was, if I recall the name correctly, Teen Night, where they had a band play after the game. For several years, it was Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods (“Billy Don’t Be A Hero”), who were a fixture at the Tomorrowland Pavilion for years.
A few years later, some friends and I put a band together to do proms and the like, and our drummer was their old drummer. Music is a tough business.

My Mom and Sisters went ot Disneyland in 1967
to see Kenny Rogers and the First Edition play in Tomorrowland. They took pictures: not a gray hair in Kenny’s beard.

I've made a routine of doing this with the Li'l Dude
We’ll hit an Angels day game then head over to Disneyland from around 4 – 8 or so. Or for an evening game, we’ll do Disneyland from 10 – 5 then head over to the stadium. Annual passes are only good if you get your money’s worth out of them!
