Nice to see O Cab, one of my favorite SS of the Angels-while he is no Gary DiScarcina, it is always a joy to watch him play. Go Twins!

This is extremely uncool

someone on the Tigers just lined one over second, and instead of seeing where it went and what happened I was watching Scott Baker looking pissed while he backed up Mauer behind home plate. Apparently it’s “a great addition to Fox and TBS broadcasts” – unfortunately I don’t have either of them, so they’d better sort it out before Thursday

Some of the plays were brilliant. His numbers are nearly as good as OC's,

Fielding percentage is generally agreed to be

a bad indicator. Nevertheless, according to the stats I found, Erick beats him .983 to .964. According to UZR Erick is 5.9 and O-Cab is -16.5. From those stats and just from my memory of their respective defense, I stand by my statement. Erick is better.

by TheOptimist on Oct 6, 2009 5:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, I realized the math was weird

I though Young was leading off the inning. Although technically, they could get a run to tie it up and then Punto could still hit a walkoff 2-run

I feel the need, the need...for speed!

by Gorbachav5 on Oct 6, 2009 5:51 PM PDT up reply actions

If someone scores a run to tie it up, Nick Punto could still theoretically come up in this inning with a man on base and hit a walkoff two-run homer. Both runs will count even though they will only need one of them.

I feel the need, the need...for speed!

by Gorbachav5 on Oct 6, 2009 5:53 PM PDT up reply actions

Let’s go over this again. One run scores. The game is tied. A runner gets on base. Punto comes up. Hits homerun with runner on base. Game is now over via walkoff two run home run.

I feel the need, the need...for speed!

by Gorbachav5 on Oct 6, 2009 5:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Punto was in my original premise

Which didn’t work out the way I thought it would. So I had to figure out a way it could work.

I feel the need, the need...for speed!

by Gorbachav5 on Oct 6, 2009 5:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Because atleast 2 batters have to reach base for Punto to come up.

He was the 5th hitter in the inning, thus at minimum two men have to reach base for him to come to bat.

This pitching change makes 8 Twins pitchers just since the 7th inning started! Yank fans get wish of long tight game

however, by default I choose the Twins

Because the Yankees are.

Can’t ask for better ratings than when the Yanks are involved in anything mlb…

by shiftyeyedgoat on Oct 6, 2009 6:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Because they want the Yanks to be in the ALCS

Not Detroit or Minnesota. Huge revenue difference between those markets.

Didn't know a thread was up for the game

but I texted that same thought to my buddy that was watching the game too. I had no odeas why he was still out there…Announcers mentioned he pitched 2 innings 3 times all year. You have him going into the 12th after you started him in th 9th? Didnt make sense.

And man, OC is one incredible rabbit’s foot for contending teams. No matter where he goes, he seems to lead the team straight to the playoffs.
