Sean Rodriguez: Best Angels Prospect Performance #3
3) Sean Rodriguez, 24 - 2B, OF, SS, AAA
.299/.400/.616 with 29 HRs and 9 SBs. +36 bat, -2 glove
Rodriguez has ranked among the Angels' top ten minor league performers every year going back to 2005, and in the top five three times. He's the only Halos' farmhand to do that, avoiding major injuries, prolonged slumps, or even bouts of just average performance. That's astounding, and it wouldn't surprise me if the 23.8 "wins above replacement" that he accumulated over that 5 year period surpassed that of every other minor leaguer. I think he's going to find a niche for himself in Tampa and grow into an everyday player for them, most likely at second base.
Again, remember that this list is based entirely on statistical performance in 2009, and is not a traditional "best prospects" ranking.

I think his AAA performance inflated his value
To me he always looked overmatched at the major league level. Sure he’s young and still has time to make adjustments. I wish the best for him. But, it wouldn’t surprise me if he becomes the classic AAAA player.
OK, I'm finally over losing Tex. Thanks Kendry.
I say this to myself when i want to be happy about him leaving
wondering what Ortiz did with that game ball...
I'm really intrigued to see who you peg at #1 and #2.
There ain’t a lot of folks left.
guessing?
Maybe Petit and Conger. One’s great with the glove and very good with the bat and the other plays a difficult position and can just bomb the ball.

Kazmir
Who was the “player to be named” in the Kazmir deal? For some reason I thought it was S-Rod?
RIP Nick Adenhart

thus the 'niche for him in tampa'

I am thinking now that Tampa got the better deal.

I think it was a good trade but I think were gonna regret it later.
At the time, this trade made sense. Kaz had playoff experience and a past history of being an ACE. As it turned out, Kaz sucked balls in the playoffs. But least we forget he had a good end of season with us.
That being said, S-Rod is a versatile exciting, young player. I caught numerous games with him on the Bees this year and he always stood out. One game, I had fans for the other team, asking me about him ( I was wearing my Angel hat) and admitted in our conversation that he was the best player on the field by far (Yes, Wood was playing…)
S-Rod is major league quality…it would’ve been nice to seem him as an Angel. However, I think Tampa is a good fit and plus, since hes from Florida, I am sure he’ll be happy.
