Padres-Sox-Angels 3 way deal
"Initial trade talks involving the White Sox, San Diego and the Los Angeles Angels would send Padres left-handed-hitting first baseman Adrian Gonzalez to the Sox, first baseman Paul Konerko to the Angels and prospects to the Padres."

No Way
Because we NEED an aging, expensive 1B/DH type like Konerko to take the place of our newly re-signed Bobby Abreu and our inexpensive Kendry Morales all before we even see where the market is establishing itself for Vlad Guerrero.
You miss the point.
Once we get Konerko, we flip him for CURTIS GRANDERSON!!!!!

Jesus, what's in this for the Angels?
Konerko makes $12M next year, is an injury waiting to happen, and will be a permanent DH, meaning Abreu plays the outfield almost every day.
We give salary relief to the White Sox so that they can receive one of the best offensive players in baseball, plus we throw in some of prospects to boot?
Sounds like the fever dream of a Chicago sportswriter.
Indeed it does!

I think the Angels lineup next year is shaping up like this
2B Aaron Hill
RF Bobby Abreu
DH Torii Hunter
CF Curtis Granderson
LF Matt Holiday
1B Konerko
C Mathis/Napoli
SS Aybar
3B Wood
What do you guys think????
I hope this is B.S.

Too stupid to merit serious discussion
I don’t know who this guy is who wrote the story, but there isn’t even a logical thread to it. The White Sox get one of the most coveted players from the Padres in exchange for some of the top White Sox prospects, then gets to unload $12M of salary for Konerko on the Angels for…what? What is their skin in this game?
More to the point, what is the upside for the Angels, how does the team benefit from all this body trading? The best thing that can be said about Konerko’s 2009 was that it didn’t suck as bad as his 2008, but he was still way off from his season 2007 and before stats. More significantly, there is not a huge difference between the 2009 Guerrero and 2009 Konerko. Guerrero has difficulties with LHP and Konerko with RHP. Guerrero hit for higher average, Konerko for higher slugging percentage. The bonus to the Angels would be very slight over simply signing Guerrero for 2010, and probably for less than $12M.

Nah. Quentin would just fly out to center.

So the Sux get a great player in his prime, the Pads get future usable players and then we get fucked in the ass by taking has been Konerko and his fat, bloated salary?

That is simply embarrassing.
Even in a down year, UCLA starts with the legacy of being a national power, with a tier 1 coach, and funding up the wazoo. There is never any excuse to lose to what has essentially become a community college program. The glory of 1978 is waaaaaaay in the past.
Had I owned the Pittsburgh Pirates, I could have saved America.
To be fair
Fullerton was a tournament team last year and gave Memphis a run for their money deep into the 2nd half as a 15 seed. By no means does this excuse the loss, but Fullerton is not terrible at basketball at least.
