Scioscia named manager of the year!
Like we didn't expect Scioscia to get manager of the year. He did a great job this year, Congrats to Sosh and to the Angels. Today Mike Sciosca was awarded the 2009 American League Manager of the year.
It was Scioscia's second Manager of the Year award. He was named by the BBWAA in 2002, when the Angels claimed their first World Series title under his direction after entering the postseason as a Wild Card.
Former Dodger manager Jim Tracy too the honor in the National league.

Woohoo!
Job well done and VERY well deserved! I wouldn’t have traded Scioscia for any manager in the world this past season, or really any before that! Hard to think that there WAS a time before Scioscia…now if only we could just get Granderson and the Soth’s legacy will be cemented!
RIP Nick Adenhart.

I heard he might be!
What do you think it will take to get him?

Giaradi will be managing the AL team in the 2010 All-Star game.
It is the 2 managers that play in the WS that manage the All-Star teams.

Rigatoni's OK.
Just don’t give him lasagna. He spills it on his uniform.

What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

sarcasm.
I give the boys on the team 100 percent of the credit for the season. Sosh get’s his knob polished way too much, and these types of awards feed into that infallible, god-like deity that some fans bestow upon him.
I think hes a good manager.
But this season was all about the players (to me, at least).

It is very difficult to pinpoint sarcasm without a face. Some people say stupid things, and I don’t mean you :)
Well Deserved!
Impressed that the media actually got this one right! Wakamatsu should have finished ahead of Girardi though.
Congrats Soth
There’s a comfort knowing we have you managing our team. :D
The Big Red Machine V.2 is coming this Fall 2009. Go Halos!
Scioscia FTW. Best manager in baseball without a doubt.

Mgr. of the Year
Even my neice who is a huge Doyers fan thinks he should have won, and she calls him a traitor.
How can she call him a traitor? The Dodgers organization overlooked him several times, weren't interested in him.
THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!
The Dodger fan's egocentrism is only exceeded by the Yankee fan's.
Scioscia’s a traitor because he fooled Fred Claire into thinking he wasn’t manager material.
What we've got can't be bought
IMHO...
It was the Howard’s commercials that clinched it for him. Not only is he a great manager, the dude can act.
They called and asked if I’d be interested in doing it, and it so happened that it was my favorite show. I was excited . . . Every year I get a (residual) check for like $4 . . . I cash ‘em. I don’t want to mess up their accounting department.
— Mike Scioscia, about his appearance on The Simpsons
God needed a starter. RIP #34
The manager sets the tone for the team
I’m currently reading the book Don Baylor had out some years back, and he talks about some of the old Angel managers (as well as others on various teams he was with), and he points out just how important the manager is to the direction a team will take. He talked about how Norm Sherry had no control over the team and thus players had no discipline. He mentioned earlier Angels managers from the 70’s even before him who allowed the lazy “don’t care if we win or lose” clubs who basically were just there to collect a paycheck and enjoy the club med atmosphere of the west coast. Other Angels managers who couldn’t get a grip on the clubhouse were Lefty Phillips, Dave Garcia, Dick Williams and Bobby Winkles. Fregosi was a huge improvement and did a lot of good, but from everything I’ve ever read, I think Scioscia has the best grasp of how to manage using respect (both given and received) and expecting player discipline without being a Nazi dick. He treats them like professionals and expects them to act the part. Team comes before individual player. The fact that he has kept the team competitive year after year, even in ones where I personally didn’t think our offense was all that great tells a lot about his ability to be a leader. He is tailor-made for the Angels team. I wouldn’t trade him for any other manager. Period.
Jeff Biggs had Soth on the drive today, good interview.
Congratulations for the honor.

What did Soth say? Anything positively enlightening about this offseason?
RIP Nick Adenhart.

He said just because Lackey, Figgins, and Oliver are free agents
does’nt mean the Angels are any less interested in re-signing them. He said they have to let the process play out, let them see what the market for them is and come back and start negotiating. Soth said they are serious about these players and they are the top priorities for the team. He repeated that he would like the same team back and start over again because he believes he can win a championship with them.

**Soth also included Vlad in this FA list but said he would only be a DH if he came back.

It's a Trap!
East Coast Red Sox/Yankees loving media keep voting Sosh M.O.T.Y. to pacify Sosh and Arte, while consistantly year after year, Sosh chokes it in the post season.
Hahahahahahaha It’s A Trap I tell ya.
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!
WE Love you Soth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats.
