Halos & Abreu agree to new contract
The Angels agreed to a two-year deal with a club option for 2012 with veteran outfielder Bobby Abreu. Per club policy, no financial terms will be announced.
“We are excited to have Bobby and the presence he brings to our organization,” said Angels GM Tony Reagins. “He was an integral part of what we accomplished in 2009 and we look forward to his contributions both on and off the field.”

I’m stoked they’re keeping Bobby. Aside from the obvious advantages in the line-up, I think signing him first this off season gives the FO some options for the rest of the FA signings. For example, now, if Vlad doesn’t stay, we can platoon Bobby and Naps at DH. If Figgins doesn’t stay, we can bat Bobby lead-off (maybe not ideal, but possible).
No matter what happens from here on, it has been a great season.
