Blue Jays sign John Buck
With Toronto signing a starting catcher, I think we can figure Napoli will be out of the deal.

Buck is no starter
He played in 59 games last year, averages about 350 PA per season, and has a career .235 / .299 / .397 line. If anything, this is a prelude to acquiring a starting catcher like Napoli.
Exactly, Buck is suited for a back-up role.
And Besides, it is possible that if Napoli was included in a deal that the Jays would be interested in using Napoli as a DH just like the Angels have considered.
agree
buck is sort of like a jeff mathis actually. i can imagine napoli would be PISSED if not only did he get traded to toronto, but he still only played half the time.

This in No way means
Napoli is out of the Halladay deal. Buck isn’t a starter as stated above me, and Nap could DH, again stated above me.

Naps out of the deal is JUST FINE WITH ME!

Fine with me as well.
I like the idea of Abreu, Johnny Rivers, and Hunter in the OF, Vlad and Naps splitting time at DH.
I am not worried about more bats, frankly, but more about the rotation and bullpen.

Fair enough, with the new info about Matsui.
Otherwise it works out about the same for me. Paying Matsui what we would have paid Vlad.
I still think we need more pitching help.

I KNOW RIGHT!
As long as the deal includes no Angels players that are good at baseball or anyone likes then the deal is JAWESOME!
This list includes:
Aybar, Morales, Napoli, Weaver, Saunders, Santana, Kazmir, Jepsen, Bulger, Wood, Reckling, Bourjos, Kendrick, Hunter, Abreu, and possibly Shields.
This leaves:
Fuentes, Izturis, SOS, GMJ, Mathis, and any A/AA/AAA scrub to be traded for Halladay.
Strangely, though, the list of players the Jays even want are:
Aybar, Morales, Napoli, Weaver, Saunders, Santana, Kazmir, Jepsen, Bulger, Wood, Reckling, Bourjos, Kendrick,
Conversely the list that they care less about is:
Fuentes, Izturis, SOS, GMJ, Mathis, and any A/AA/AAA scrub
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....
Me too
I am fine with almost anyone else that we may have to give up. But giving up Napoli, especially when we have very limited catching depth beyond him, and other power-options such as Vlad leaving, just does not make any sense for this club to do. Yes you have to give up something to get something, but including Napoli would just be counter-productive—kind of like how the Angels were reluctant over the summer (and should be now) to give up two MLB starting pitchers for Halladay.

I read the title as "Joe Buck"
And was jumping for joy that we wouldn’t have to see him again come playoff time next year.
