Lackey to the Red Sox?
It appears our workhorse/ace is leaving for greener pastures. Greener in the sense that there will be a giant green monster in Lackey's new home. While the deal is not official, the deal certainly seems imminent. If true, this would be a double disaster for the Angels. Not only would the Angels lose their staff ace for the last 7 years, but they would be losing him to one of their most hated rivals.
I know baseball is a business, but do you think there was an element of wanting Lackey wanting to stick it to the Angel's, and Scioscia in particular. Very sad day for the Angels indeed. It seems that unless the Angels can make a last minute coup to re-sign Lackey, one of our most beloved pitchers will be on one of our most hated rivals.

Xavier Calvera
So Lackey to the Red Sox, Cliff Lee to the Mariners.
What next? Albert Pujols to the Rangers for Cowboys Season Seats?

Cant blame him for going for the money..........

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. - Peter Gibbons

Hmmm, ESPN is reporting this as a tentative deal.
Which means it could fall through.
Yeah...
it could. But there is no reason why it would at this point.

It's pending a physical, which means it's just about a done deal...
…and as I’ve said in a previous comment, he is now dead to me.
"I thought you said we didn't have any high-priced talent."
"Well, I forgot about Dorn because he's just high-priced."
Overpaid for him
5 yrs $85 million is too much for Lackey. I think losing him will hurt us in the short term, but we’re better off not getting stuck long term with that type of deal. Plus I was geting tired of him showing up Scoscia and throwing his teammates under the bus everytime. Hope he’s ready for that east coast media and fans, because they won’t be as forgiving as we were and here’s hoping we pound him in the regular season and playoffs.
About him showing up Scioscia,
I think he had earned the right to finish off an inning if he feels like he can do it. And ultimately, like I said when it happened, it was ultimately the reason he left; or at least it put a bad taste in his mouth going into the offseason.
