12/14/09 what a bad day for halo fans
Ummmm so I wake up this morning and see that the team I hate the most has gotten John Lackey. I was pissed so I said hopefully the Angels are able to pick up Roy Halladay. A couple of hours later Halladay is gone to the Phillies, and I said lets go after Cliff Lee now right??? Wrong again. Cliff Lee is actually part of a 3 team deal and he is going to Seattle. Then I see the Angels spent their money on Hideki Matsui. What is going on here?? I do not think Matsui will do good at Anaheim, because he is not playing in a little league field anymore.
Here are some options that will get me happy...
Option #1: Trade Juan Rivera for Derek Lowe, and then Sign Matt Holliday 6 yr/105 mil
Option #2: Trade Juan Rivera for Derek Lowe, and then Sign Jason Bay 5yr/90 mil
Option#3: Let either Palmer/Reckling/OSully/Bell/Etc do the job
Option#4: Sign Ben Sheets
Option#5: Chien Ming Wang?????
Option #6: Let Time Decide
Option #7: Other

Terrible day and I share your pain
But we were like this a year ago when we failed to sign Tex, then we signed someone we didn’t know would produce (Abreu). Things turned out fine though.
I know that this year is different now that Texas and Seattle are building pretty good teams but I have faith we’ll make it once again.
As for the options, I’m going with Ben Sheets. Lets take that chance at 1 yr/ 3-5 mil
when shit hit the fan today the first voice i heard in my head was...
fdr, “today is a day that will live in infamy.”
I just didn't see this day coming
Yesterday everything still seemed possible. No signs that anything was even close to getting done. And then today we just got blindsided. Damn.
OK, I'm finally over losing Tex. Thanks Kendry.
Lowe's contract is not a good one...
While I agree that Derek Lowe may be able to help the Angels theres no way in hell you trade an excellent contract like the one we have with Riveria for an albatross like the one Derek Lowe brings to the table…
The losses of Figgy and Lackey, while regretable, were expected. Neither the Mariners nor the Red Sox’s will be happy with those contracts two years from now. We managed to avoid taking on a bad contract by letting them walk, and got draft pick compensation in return. Lets not celebrate avoiding one (or two) mistakes by making one in return…
Yup. Since they started trying to contend with the big boys (i.e. since 2002), can’t think of a worst day, or any close.
Especially when the casual Angel fan friends I have want no part of buying tickets now. They won’t support the team financially.
I guess I’ll be with them at the usual sports bar, if I can convince them :P
