Los Angeles Hideki Matsui of Anaheim

All Star slugger Hideki Matsui will wear Jersey Number 55 (word is that Angels rookie pitcher Sean O'Sullivan, who donned #55 in 2009, requested a jersey that adds up to 10 so he will be getting Donnie Moore's jersey #37) for your Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

If the above shot of Tony Reagins in a miniskirt and Mike Sciosica looking suspiciously slimmed down in his green sharskin suit are of interest to you, click the photo for our gallery of A/P photographs of Godzilla's debut in red this afternoon.

gross.. no offense to matsui, but I woulda much preffered that to be Vlade.

This picture of matsui is nothing but writting on the wall for vlade, i wouldnt hold it against vlade if he signed with the mariners, baseball loyalty is dead.

Broken record much?

He actually looks pretty good in our uniform.

Welcome to Anaheim, Godzilla! Please do not smash or melt the Big A. We need it for…you know, stuff.

In the storm of disappointment over Lackey and Halladay, Matsui’s signing kinda got pushed under the rug. This is a good signing, despite the fact that my favorite Angel, Vlad, will probably not be back now. Matsui will do our team proud and will perform great. We’ll all be singing his praises by June. Welcome to Anaheim , Hideki Matsui!

I was thinking that Matsui and Napoli could platoon at dh

Till I saw Matsui’s stats against Lefties. 13 HR in 131ab with a .618 slg pct. Wow.

I thought the short front porch in RF at Yank stadium contributed to Matsui’s numbers. He hit more HR’s in less ab’s and did significantly better in all offense categories AWAY from Yank stadium. Guess the Zoo that is Yankee home games had a negative affect on Matsui.

Vlad should have took what we offered. He can hardly walk. That’s his fault (I was for getting Vlad back).

Go Matsui!

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

I've been told by Yankee fans

that when he hits home runs, they would be home runs in any park. Apparently, when he gets a hold of one he really crushes it. Good news for us!

I'm a huge Guerrero fan... But

I like this signing. Matsui doesn’t roll two nearly as much as Vlad does.

Take it from a Yankee fan ...

At this stage of their careers, he’s an upgrade over Vlad. Matsui in his prime could never compare to Vlad in his prime, but at this point Matsui has more power. And no, Matsui won’t hit into as many DPs. He used to hit into a TON of them early in his career, apparently because very few Japanese pitchers throw two-seam fastballs. But he adjusted :-)

Especially at that price, Matsui is a great pickup for the Angels. I’ll wish him well right along – even against the Yanks, so long as the Yanks win. :-) Watch, he’ll get a big ovation at the Stadium.

It is nice to see Mike Napoli's name in the poll even though he probably wont be DHing

that much. At least he did’nt get traded for some fat floosy that Phi Slamma wanted.

I was going to write this as its own story, but it was turning out kind of lame

So I’ll just drop it here…

Just like all of you, I’ve been following what’s been going on this week with the Angels. I’ve gone back-and-forth on how I feel about the loss of John Lackey. I’ve waivered on the circumstances of the rumored Roy Halladay acquisition and the possible loss of other Angel players. I’ve gotten pissed off at the additions the Mariners made, especially one of last season’s Angel all-stars, while the front office seems to do nothing. But then I remembered this is an organization that knows what its doing and has proven it repeatedly.

When looking at things, not just Angel things, but almost everything in my life, the analytical side of my mind tries to come up with analogizes to help explain to the emotional side of my mind what’s going on. The analogy that keeps running through my mind for this week is automobiles.

My analytical mind tells me to think of the Angels as a BMW. Not the big expensive 7-series, or the least expensive 3-series, but rather a well equipped 5-series. A first-class ride, at a more affordable price. The New York Rolls Royces and the Boston Benzs are filled with high priced extravagances that the Beamer doesn’t need. A $17 million dollar cup holder? Why, when the $6.5 million dollar one does the job just as well (plus, there’s money left over for those $5 million dollar floor mats). How about that $20 million dollar drive train? The BMW will use the $3 million dollar one, and get just as good of mileage. How about that navigation system? The BMW’s GPS has proven to know the right road to get you to your destination safely and repeatedly.

Alright, that’s enough of that.

Another thing that caught my attention this week on Halos Heaven was the post and comments about how Arte Moreno is only in it for the money. I certainly hope so! I’m digging what he’s doing and I hope he keeps it up.

See....Now you made me sad!!

It was great Vlad, You are one of the few that Gets it. But as my skills deminished, i made the decision to retire. I hope you make a wise decision my Friend. Go out on top Vlad. One or two years in Texas will not make you happy. Your mom needs you at home. So, the BEST to you OUR friend!!

Angel movement

Well, it looks as though the Mariners will be the cream of the AL West next season. It looks as though the Angel GM hasn’t a clue on how to put together a deal involving multiple teams. He just sits back to see what’s left.
