Buying my first jersey (Poll Added)
In a couple of weeks I am going to purchase my first Angel's jersey, and I'm having a mind war with what I should get. My first instinct is to get a personalized jersey. When I was a kid my dream was to play shortstop for the Angel's. Alas, like most dreams, that never came true, but I've always thought it would be kinda cool to still have a MLB jersey with my name on it. It would be dumb to get a Grich or Jackson jersey because I wasn't even in kindergarten during their heyday.
So I put this question out to you guys at HH. What would you get? I'd feel really dumb if I got my first jersey and felt like a complete fool with what I purchased. Thank you.

Well can't go wrong with a Salmon jersey if you were even
considering Grich or Jackson. If I was to get a jersey of a current Angels I’d either get Hunter or Kendrick. I’d probably lean with Howie.
I got a Guerrero one
because it was the cheapest at the time by a lot.
Get it personalized
Just put your name on the back. You know if you put a players name on the back they will only leave. Or just put a nickname on it, or just leave it blank.
Mines was a gift
It would be insulting to the person who gave it to me not to wear it.
Plus its an Anaheim Jersey.

Agree on your own name
I have 12 jerseys with my name on them. I’ve never been traded in 25 years.
Nick, you will always be an Angel. And you will be missed.

This is how I feel. And anyone who disagrees is free to think of me whatever you like. :-)

The trick is...
to get a jersey that looks legit but is still timeless… luckilly the Redskins had Marcus Washington, so even though he is gone, I got a real looking jersey of a real player, and even though he is long gone, it still says WASHINGTON, so it’s timeless…
That being said, unless someone with the last name Anaheim plays for the Angels, I’d go with Scioscia, he ain’t goin anywhere for a while.
HELLO!
Rev will be here all week… try the veal and tip your waitress.

Depends how you want to go
I would go with one you personally connect to or have an interest in. I never got one of the standard big-name ones because I felt it was kinda cliche, and they’re expensive. Not that I have anything against the superstars, I just kinda wanted to get more customized and spread the attention around to some other solid guys on the team.
I was gonna get GA, then they let him go. Was gonna get Kotchman before he got let go.
I went with Juan Rivera this past summer. Because I think he is a boss and not enough people see that. A power hitter with a cannon for an arm and plays the OF corners like I did during my last run at baseball. Also because I respect him for the busted shin he came back from after getting pins and rods put in. That would’ve ended a lot of people’s careers. I had stress fractures in my left shin when I was in the military so I relate to how much of a pain in the ass those types of injuries are.
I also have a blank Red Alternate jersey that my parents got me in 2007. I may go to a tailor and get a name added to this at some point. Weaver or Kendrick are my top candidates right now.

Gotta be the man!
LAZORKO!
Mathis, for what he did in the playoffs.
Weaver, for coming up large in a tough and emotional season. He showed leadership last year.
Hunter would also be a nice choice.
Izturis would also be cool. He is mighty!
2010: The year of Angels World Domination
If if was my choice
Either Adenhart or Salmon.
If you want a current player, I’d go for either Weaver or Kendry. Or Wood.
Go with Kendrick.
Or Napoli…. Naps is probably gonna be my next jersey
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34
Kendrick is more likely to be around awhile, so that would be a good choice.
But Naps is just so….fucking…..cool.
Nick would be proud.

It would be tacky if . . .
you got a new style jersey with an old players name.
I couldn’t decide which current player to go with when I bought mine a few years ago, so I just went personalized with my old baseball number. The only problem is, at the time nobody on the team was wearing the number, but since then, someone started wearing it.
The number . . . 34
"DODGERS SUCK"
“714”
In gangsta font. It will be a reply to a Dodger Jersey I saw at Sea World last month that said “Angels Suck” “213” on it. I was appalled.
In all honesty, why on earth would you spend $200+ on a nice personalized authentic jersey and put hater words on it? Lame.
I love this team.
He feels threatened
You should be proud. Also fun, if he was under 25, ask him how it felt last time he watched his team win the World Series. I use the same technique with my friends who make fun of me for being a Rams fan while touting their ancient franchise championships and recent relevancy (like Eagles fans).
Personalized jerseys are lame
and only point out the obvious fact that you never played for the team. Root for the Angels, not yourself. If you must get a jersey, pick a timeless player who shows a deep fandom and won’t become outdated. I suggest someone high up on the Top 100 Angels list.

Morales 22 or 19 or his new #8.......Team MVP Duh, No Brainer!!!!!!!!
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He should stick with #19
He is a big dude…he needs two numbers.

Gotta go with Scioscia
He’s the only one guaranteed to be here 10 years from now.
If I was going to get a current team member, it would be this.
If I was going to get a past team member, I don’t see how you could go wrong with always-an-Angel Salmon.

I was looking on Ebay.
Then I found one guy who had TONS of Angels jerseys, but he also has retro names on modern jerseys. That shit screams fake to me. I did find a site that has a much better selcetion though.

I always go with blank
I WAS going to get a Tex jersey since I liked him and my favorite # is 25….but then he went bitch and confirmed my blank theory.
Well I have a Morales Jersey
I had it made at the start of the season last year…. and its #19 and he just changed it to 8. So when I wear it to the games people will know I was a fan from the start of it all. Being that you can only order Jerseys with current names and numbers if you want a Majestic jersey.

Just get your Kobe Bryant 8 from your old Lakers jersey...
and slip that onto your KMo jersey.
I love this team.

Blanks are cheezy,
Just get your favorite player
"Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His Saints." - Psalm 116:15 Rest In Peace, Nick.
Take an irrational fave
If I was getting one, the #1 would probably be Grich, but I might just go Bochte, Schofield, Daryl Sconiers. It’s the inexplicable ones that mark the true fan from the casual bandwagoneer.
A bandwagoner is what I don't want to look like.
But as I’m shopping around online (no Angels gear in central PA) the only place I trust is the Angels website. Ebay scares the hell outta me. My first choice is a Joyner jersey, but I’m having trouble finding one.
Nick would be proud.

Aybar
I personally would never get a jersey with my name on the back. I too had a dream to play in the big leagues, but just wasn’t good enough and don’t deserve an authentic jersey.
Go with Aybar.
Light up the Freakin Halo!
Just a number
I chose “blank” which to me means no name on back.
A comment was made by Jeff Biggs today which has always been my position: I don’t want anybody else’s name on my back.
I wish there were no names on the backs because it leaves the Yankees as the only uniform (both home and road) that sends the message that it is about the team and not the individual.
For me, I would either leave it blank on the back or add the #11 (without the name) because my all-time favorite Angel is Jim Fregosi.
