Strongest points:
-5th (5th!!) all-time in strikeouts
-178 quality starts with a loss or no decision render 'not a 300 game winner' argument moot
-60 shutouts

There isn't an excuse
it’s funny to read a guy writing his own resumé for the HOF, but he’s right.
There just IS NOT an excuse for him to not be in the Hall. There are dozens of players in the hall who are worse, and some who are just downright BAD (Phil Rizzuto, Pee Wee Reese), but are relics of some faux-pure days of yesteryear, so they got in.
Wins are a godawful stat, and I wish they’d just be abolished from pitching stats entirely. They exist to fill the back of a baseball card, but nothing is more meaningless. At the end of the day, Blyleven was one of the best pitchers of his day, period.
Either put him in, or purge a lot of people out.

I think they should make it an official pat of the nomination process
it’d be good for some laughs.
Captain, there are doubt's...
Please, for the love of God, put the dutchman in!
OK, so he didn’t play in New York….
That’s his only flaw. he has personality, awesome stories, gave people the hot foot, had the most wicked curve ball of his era (he was Zito without the post huge contract flame out), I believe he won a ring with the Pirates in 79. He’s got better stats than Whitey Ford while playing in a backwater his whole career.
Of course, Bert wasn’t the one who scraped Mickey Mantle off the sidewalk every night and got Mic’s latest jiz jar into a cab, etc. Whitey does have him beat there.
Put him in!!!!
Sometimes I wish Rex would be quiet

How about "yes", you crazy Dutch bastard?
Angels baseball. We do what we must, because we can -- HaloDutch
but he can't be in the hall because
a. he didn’t play for only one team
b. he didn’t play for a big market team – the NY rule (only Twins, Rangers, Pirates, Indians, and Angels)
sarcasm is so hard to do online
if he does get in, my money is on he goes in as a twinkie
Found a cool little tracker for HOF votes (already have done a fanshot two days in a row)
plus there won’t be an Angels player on the ballot (by def. of someone going to wear the “Big A”)
hall of fame tracker
but i don’t understand why Alomar has 49 votes (at bottom) and only 44 accounted for (at top). supposedly it is taken from people who have said who they have voted for (or will vote for). don’t know how reliable. Saw this originally on d12 on Big League Stew.
If Bert had piched for the Yankees or Mets
for a majority of his career, Central Park would have been renamed in his honor.
wow, 60 shutouts!
I didnt read that til just now. Thats impressive.
