Baseball Prospectus projects us to win 79 games this year
And for the A's to win the division with a pretty bad record.
I would have a much easier time shrugging it off if Nate Silver's election projections weren't so frighteningly accurate throughout the process and specifically on election day.
Also, my apologies for the projections being on a Red Sox blog. But most people I'd imagine dont have the subscription to BP

Go there if you want to avoid the Red Sox blog and the little jab it takes at the Angels in it
Only 9 games better than the Mariners??
and 4 games UNDER .500?
I’ve been saying Oakland will be better and make will make it a close race, but I have a hard time believing that they’ll win the division.
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
i'll say it again
we’re dealing with humans, not computers. you can project and forecast all you want, but we have no effing clue what the young guys are going to do. we have no idea what’s going to happen in the future (case in point: Saunders 2008).
let’s see how Holliday does outside of Coors before we hand the division to the A’s on a silver platter, shall we?
Kotch would've had that.
agreed
the angels style of play seems to fight sabr-logic fairly regularly, but i do have to admit that I’m a little more concerned about this season today than i was a month ago. Not because of these projections, but just because. Feels like theres a lot more unknowns this year than we’re used to. Also, I cant help but feel we’re banking on the pitching just a haiiir too much

I wish Vegas was this stupid
I would kill my season wins totals overs/unders every year
I guess I already used my Manny bomb for the month?
Fun
Last year they said we’d be in Last Place. That’s right last place.
Funny, I seem to remember the Angels got the best record in baseball in 2008.
Light Up That Halo!
Maybe it was 2007
But I remember at some point PECOTA projected a fourth-place finish and we wound up with close to the best record.
Light Up That Halo!
I think this is our worst-case scenario
Not our average outcome. We’re probably not winning 100 games this year. But we’re probably winning more than 79.
The Angels in recent history always out-perform the statistical models. I do think they won’t be as good as last year, but they’ll still win the division.
