Bluff!
or not.
No one is getting signed for the rest of the off-season. Reagins is going to wait it out and see where we are mid-season. I’ve said it before and I say it again. No one is getting signed.
I got a fiver and a 40 oz on it.

This is loud and clear that the Angels are not going after Manny. However, the reasons were quite vague beyond “we’re going to let the young guys play.”
I am not sure I really agree with this philosophy, but maybe there is more to it that they are not letting on about (clubhouse chemistry concerns or Boras complexity?).
I agree about the "we're going to let the young guys play" part.
I think it was a dodge of the question. So they signed Juan Rivera at thirty years old, which is hardly young, instead of Manny for the same position. None of theses team executives have the guts to say, “We don’t want to be stuck with Manny on any sort of a long term basis.” I have to think Reagins is being less than truthful, if anybody could reign in Manny and his “attitude” it would be a manager like Soth.
It also could be Moreno the wise financial investor that has decided to go on the cheap seeing a bad economy for the next few years and declining ticket sales. Maybe he sees it wise not to spend an extra dime for the near future, and if the team fails to make it to the post season, they can blame it on Teixeira being an a-hole and not signing with the Angels when Arte was willing to spend some money.

or
this could also be Arte’s way of planning for the future. the Angels have money, but are not spending it. if one of the kids falters (which i sincerely hope does NOT happen) and another team has to dump some salary because of the crappy economy, the Angels could be waiting with arms wide open. our big bat could join up around the Break once again.
who knows?
Kotch would've had that.
So long as it ain't a Boras client
And/or we can sign him to an extension immediately, let’s take that strategy.

The wise financial investor
would be throwing cash around like crazy right now. Assuming Moreno has money (and there are no reports that I’ve heard suggesting that he’s been hit hard by the economy), there are assets out there this year to be had for cheaper than they may be ever again. Sure, Dunn, Ramirez, Abreu, etc. are all flawed players, but each of them is going to be dirt cheap this year. Knowing that the Angels may be looking at their last year AL West dominance, I would be inking at least one of those guys to a short deal to DH.
I feel the need, the need...for speed!
Dirt cheap is an overstatement
but certainly cheaper than the market has been in a long time.
I feel the need, the need...for speed!
The video cuts out the part
where Tony’s index finger starts talking ala The Shining about the young players until Arte breaks down the door with an Axe and says HEEEERE’s MANNNY… holding the 8,000 season seat cancellations that still need to be filled.
There hasn't been anything said that can't be retracted with...
“Things changed in the Manny market and we took another look at the situation. We decided signing Manny was the right decision for our team.”
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
Did you even listen to the thing Rev just posted?
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....
Yes I did.
Are you saying things never change?
I’m not saying they’re going to sign him, in fact, I’m 99% sure they’re not. But that doesn’t mean the situation couldn’t change.
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
Geez...
Why can’t all of you take what Tony says at face value? We’re not going to sign Manny. How many times does he have to say it?
Peanuts...Get your Overpriced Peanuts!
“No means yes” to many people. Or should I say “MANNY” people?

i felt that it needed to be reinforced
which is why i posted it.
Kotch would've had that.

Hey, it is good that you posted this to really snuff out those embers that are burning in the “sign manny” campfire.
Hey, Howie, can you pass the marshmellows?

No; it's just sad.
We’re going with Reggie Willits instead. We’ll be in game 3 of the divisional series, and our hitters will be trying to “make productive outs”.
It’s so far beyond frustration at this point that I can’t describe my feelings.
As i said a few months ago, what exactly does Kendry playing 1b every day have anything to do with signing Manny Ramirez?
Oh well, move on. I’m still thinking the Yankees will have Manny some time in early March, whenever Borasss decides it’s time to pick up the phone and call Steinbrenner.
We still have Gary Matthews Jr.

Cant wait to listen to The Drive today
and hear Dave Smith continue to say that Manny will be an Angel. So funny.
That's just Manny being..........a jackass
I listen to The Drive almost everyday
and Dave Smith is funny, but man some of the things that come out of his mouth are just ridiculous. But love the show.
Give the young guns a chance...if they suck wellll...

After the Angels sign Manny....
….this will be Reagins’ explanation:
“We are always looking to improve this team, and this was an opportunity we felt like we couldn’t walk away from. To get a hitter of Manny’s caliber always improves your team, and we were able to reach an agreement that pleased everyone. Sometimes you don’t plan for these things, so you always have to be ready to make adjustments and maximize your opportunities to put the best team on the field.”
Exactomundo
Not that the Angels will sign Manny, but that what Reagins said really means anything. The notion that Reagins can’t sign someone because he said he wouldn’t is just nonsense.
Mostly, I think his comments are intended to “stick it” to Boras. He’s simply not going to let Boras use the Angels interest as a bargaining chip like he did with Tex.
If the deal were right, Ninja would sign Manny in a heartbeat. But the deal will never be right.
Do not underestimate the Ninja
He’s already made a nickname for himself by flying in out of nowhere to sign a guy. He could easily do it again, especially the later it gets in the offseason. Reagins was just creating leverage for the Angels by saying he won’t be an Angel. Translation: “Dude, we ain’t listening until you bring your price down significantly.”
So now that this is a done deal, where does he bat? I say he bats cleanup after Vlad.
Dude, you are famous:

Why is it I write pretty much the same thing
and all I get is PhiSlamma jumping my shit?
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
Oh, Jan...
If it makes you feel any better, I did notice you wrote the same thing, but I hitched my wagon to yeswecan because he’s famous now
Why the heck not...?
C’mon now Tony do you honestly believe that people are going to come out to Angels Stadium to the same low to no offensive attack especially now that the seats have gone up in price….?
Many of the fans gave up on the Angels after another post-season failure to Boston in the ALDS .
Go Angels!!!!
Oh, please
No real fan gives up on his team because of failure in the postseason. Any fan, and especially an Angels fan, knows it is supremely bad karma to complain about a 100-win season.
This is a Golden Era for our team. How nice it is to have an owner who wants it to last a long time.

The '02 band wagoners
can piss off. Are you giving up on the Angels? Sure sounds like it, bro. Well, once it’s no longer cool to root for them, at least I can decide on a whim to drive down for a game, and actually get decent tickets, like I used to.
Don't mess with Teix-ass or Bor-ass!

Bandwagon fans
Keep the Angels in business…as much I don’t like the guy or gal who has been a fan his or her entire life, but cannot name any pre-2002 Angel not on the 2002 roster.
