Fangraphs takes a whack at the Angels' minor league system, profiling some of the team's top prospects . . .

"Once the owners of an impressive group of prospects, the Los Angeles Angles’ minor league system has slipped into disarray. The club still has some interesting prospects, but most of them are in A-ball or short-season leagues. In recent seasons, offensive prospects have been overrated in part due to some minor league teams that play in very good hitter’s parks and leagues . . . ."

Blah blah blah

We have a historic crop of young talent at the big league level who we’ll be enjoying for the next decade, Conger & Adenhart on the way, and 5 of the first 50 picks. It’s thin now but it won’t be long.

I agree with you

The amount of home-grown, young talent on the major league roster proves the minor league system is working just fine. It may be a touch thin at the 3A level, but that’s only because the team is using their resources correctly. As you wrote, with the talent on the way and the additional draft picks, no one should be worried about the farm system.

I was uncool before uncool was cool.

Reading the headline, I would have thought the Angels minor league farm system was in the middle of a meltdown. What else does disarray imply?

Here is the definition of disarray from Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary;
                     “A lack of order or sequence. Confusion. Disorder”.

In reading the Fangraphs article, they give perhaps ONE example of of disarray as defined above (Nick Adenhart). And that is – at best – a stretch.

Adopting the writer’s confusion between “thin” and “disarray”, I can only conclude his writing is in far more disarray than the Angels farm system.

Agreed

Fangraphs jumps on the Angels’ system bashing bandwagon, buying into BA / BP groupthink, but then fails to support the point.

Wonder what Fangraphs thinks of the economy right now?!

:)
