Accident or Conspiracy?
Brandon Wood, all of a sudden has a .000 batting average. I would have thought it an accident except that his name and numbers no longer exist on the team's Spring Training Stats Page.

uh oh
i wonder if this means that he is a goner… perhaps traded…
…or that the MLB.com updater guy is taking a long bathroom break…
this is pretty fishy
he’s also not on the depth chart

umm... what?!
i seriously doubt a trade would be broken like this, but this is really weird.
Kotch would've had that.
HOW WE FOUND OUT ABOUT ABREU SIGNING
Nick Green hit the waiver wire WAY before the deal was announced.

I don't that some dude who updates the roster on the internet
has the inside scoop before the media.

I just searched for him in the search engine and nothing came up.
Brandon Wood was a mirage.

Alien abduction.....
there is a lot of that in AZ.
Recipient of the 2008 "The Iron Man" award from scottnak of Halos Heaven!
Neither
That is simply his batting average (exaggerated) against top notch mlb pitching.
;)
Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.
Search
When I did a search on his name, I got:
Brandon Wood —- SS
The lines are where the team name should be?
Bye Bye Ohio, hello Valencia!
Oh
And I should add that I will be ridiculously pissed if they trade Wood. Figgins is a good leadoff guy, but this team is severely lacking in power. I think they would rue giving up on B Wood.

Agreed.......Wood should stay..
and Figgy should be traded.

AAA
Is it possible he was just sent down to AAA due to no roster spot or is this a trade?
wow
trading wood would be straight up stupid. figgins has one more year on his contract. and wood has an option. i mean, are they clearing the way for matt brown?
the only thing i can think of is wood for some sort of gonzalez/peavy trade. only acceptable trade in my mind.

Now that I have actually investigated this
I would have to say that Wood is gone. Probably AAA. I would agree with this. We brought him up too fast from A to AAA and he suffered. While he is doing well, send him back to AAA to keep his confidence going. Guys, please don’t rush him. We already did that and it didn’t work. We have plenty of talent to go all the way. Think of the future, not of what you expect of someone now.
If we did trade him, it would have to be for something very, very good.
Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.
As of 8 am (CDT) Saturday
Wood is no longer on the 40-man roster or MLB.com’s depth chart.
I can see a mistake with the stats, but not on the 40-man roster is huge. The Angels had better gotten something good for him!
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
still not on the 40 man roster at 8:28 MDT, this is either a mistake or he's traded, they wouldn't take him off the 40 man to send to AAA
Angels in 09!
I notice that the site's 40 man only has 38 names on it.
I wonder who the other person they aren’t showing is.
~Till the Halo burns out...
I was just going to post that.
Yeah, he’s the other missing Angel. I doubt there’s too many situations that Fuentes would be dealt which leads me to believe it’s just a glich with MLB.com.
I was uncool before uncool was cool.
He can't be dealt
You can’t deal a free agent in his first year, unless it’s only a one year deal. And even then I don’t think you can trade a free agent on a one year deal before June, or something like that. They can’t trade Fuentes.
Must be a glitch
The would keep Fuentes

I contacted MLB Trade Rumours
to see if they have heard anything or can dig it up.
Right now they are reporting not-so-impressive progress on the Lackey extension talks

Wow that really sucks...
if he is indeed gone. I think the only way I’d be happy is if they traded him say for Tim Lincecum, Albert Pujols, or Evan Longoria.
Peanuts...Get your Overpriced Peanuts!
I think it's more likely an accident.
It happened immediately after yesterday’s game when everybody else’s stats were updated. My guess would be that it’s a bug in the system.
~Till the Halo burns out...
He is listed in the stats
of yesterday’s game with one AB and a season avg of .000
by SocalAngelFaninOC on Mar 21, 2009 8:30 AM PDT reply actions
But the box score from 3/17 still has him listed as possessing a .378 avg.
Also, his player bio is still on the Angels site. Again, I think it’s most likely something wonky happened with the stats.
~Till the Halo burns out...
I don't want to freak out prematurely but....
OH CRAP!!!! Like Rev said, this is how the Abreu story broke…
game time!
I doubt a trade happens as he's not in the MLB!
according to mlb player search
Vlad cheated me. I thought he was 12.
and poof he was gone, like he never existed...
bwood is the new keyser soze. he was just a figment of our imagination.
do i hear the padres anyone?
wood has gone keyser soze on our ass an there is no rush to re-sign lackey. jake peavy, drive on up the 5!!
Peavy has looked like...
ass in the WBC. I want to see him produce in MLB before a trade happens. He doesn’t look like the same pitcher.
Jim Scully
But Dunn has performed as expected in WBC.....
Terrible in the field, Dingers galore! (19 AB / 3 HR / 9 R)
(But……we didn’t want him either ’cause he strikes out too much)
by SocalAngelFaninOC on Mar 21, 2009 11:27 AM PDT reply actions
We didn't want him
Because of that $15 Million difference between him and Abreu.
by Rev Halofan on Mar 21, 2009 11:28 AM PDT up reply actions
Well.
The $5 million this year. Dunn will be worth every penny. He didn’t want to be in the AL – don’t think we had a real shot at him. I’d much rather have him than Abreu, but Abreu will be solid, if unspectacular.
Jim Scully
Abreu wasn't available
for the $5mm when we passed on “Done”

nothing to freak out about im sure

so they had to change it.
