WBC: USA vs Japan
It's the USA vs Japan in the WBC semi-finals, playing to determine who faces Korea in the Championship game, and who goes back to spring training.
The Team USA is hurting, and without a real first baseman. Tonight they send out Roy Oswalt to face a Japanese lineup led by Ichiro Suzuki. Daisuke Matsuzaka will take the mound for the Japanese.
Questions abound for this game. Who will play first base? Will the US get demolished like Venezuela? Have I reached 80 words yet? Will anyone else besides me post in this topic? We'll find out.
This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

I watched him against Cuba and was surprised by how he came right after guys.
Apparently he affords Major Leaguers a lot more respect than other guys.

Seems kinda lopsided.

Never give up, never surrender!
you can only replace injured players on your roster
with players that were on the provisional roster.
apparently, they never thought Youk would get hurt, so the only other 1B was Derek Lee, who is currently recovering from a slight quad injury.
Longoria is just there for depth.

Jeter can’t hit jack!
Kotch would've had that.
Yeah Joe.
Without A-Rod, how will that lineup hit? They only have Teixeira, Posada, Matsui, Xavier Nady, Johnny Damon and Robinson Cano. I don’t know how they’ll do it.

They have Jeter too. Bottom line is that on paper even without A-Rod

~Till the Halo burns out...
Not like this
Go to one of these games with Korea or Japan playing.
The support, the cheering, the way they KNOW when to cheer.
There was not ONE “cheer-o-meter” or fake crowd sounds. Nothing. The fans knew that a 3-2 count even with one out was something to cheer for. Not one really monkey, nothing to pump up the crowd.
People in the US show up to the game, drink beer, and cheer when the scoreboard tells them to. Except for, you know, everyone reading this.

Dunn benefited from playing in a bandbox with the Reds
As well as getting to face AAAA pitching.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!!

I don't like him striking out three times with Rollins on base.
Look above when he actually came through for me signing his praises.
I’m just annoyed at losing a game like that.

Wow
SS – Jeter
DH – Rollins
RF – Dunn
Genius.

Bring on the excuses...
when no excuses can be made. The USA got beat. Time to go home with our tails between our legs and try to re-group for the next one. Better preparation and less focus on spring training pitch counts and a focus on defense (no jeter, PLEASE).
Congrats to the Japanese and Korean teams for doing so well with so few MLB’ers.
