Angels shopping Matthews
"Angels manager Mike Scioscia says Matthews "isn't comfortable" with his role as a fourth outfielder, but despite rumors that the Angels may try to work something out with the Yankees, the contract will be difficult to move."

Maybe Figgins and Matthews for Aceves or Hughes? Maybe Swisher?

Swisher could be flipped
for a prospect, Figgins and Matthews plus Mathis MIGHT net Hughes, but that is asking a lot. I could see this trade happening in early May as they learn more about Santana’s situation but before it becomes common knowledge.
Hughes is having a great spring........so I would be down for this.......

I would be shocked
if Matthews and Figgins netted us Hughes. That would be colossally shortsighted on the Yank’s part. Swisher, on the other hand…
But I’m not sure he helps us at this point.
No on Swisher,
How a guy with a sub .250 career avg and 1 season of over 30 HR’s gets so much attention is beyond me.

I hope they get rid of Matthews and Figgins.......I want to see
Aybar -SS
Kendrick -2B
Abreu -DH
Guerrero -RF
Hunter -CF
Morales -1B
Napoli -C
Rivera -LF
Wood -3B
As our Openning Day Lineup……….Aybar is ready and if not Izturis is perfectly interchangable with him.
LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abreu leads off

personally,im not big on Izturis.. Maybe it was the failed 3 hitter experiment that did it,or that I think Aybar is a better player…I think a healthy and productive Vlad is the team 3 hitter,,I like Bob hitting 2nd,but in time they may have to spread the lineup out a little more..
Izturis is way under-rated.
He was our best clutch hitter in 2007. He plays excellent defense, and runs well. His problem has been staying healthy.
Given the opportunity (and good health), he will be a reliable, steady SS.
Yep. Health is his primary negative.
Very good defense. He doesn’t have Aybar’s ability for the spectacular, but he is more consistently solid. Aybar started off bad, graduated to pretty good with sparks of awesomeness, and has climbed to pretty damned good and rising, with occasional brilliance. But still not as solid as Izzy.
Clutch hitter. Much better than Aybar.
Just gotta stay healthy.
agreed

Buster Olney
Gary Matthews Jr. wants to play more, but he’s owed $33 million during the next three seasons, and the Angels probably would have to eat about 90 percent of that money to have a chance to move him, one rival executive estimates

Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
