Kelvim in Action
Courtesy of Bill Plunkett at the Orange County Register, the sight of Kelvim Escobar in action on the mound... something most of us wondered if we'd ever see again.

Man, gotta love that.
Is this from some scrimmage? I read he would be pitching on Sunday but he wasnt in the box scores.

he pitched in a minor league game
against Cubs minor leaguers. It was at the Tempe facility still, just at one of the lower fields. He said something about all the minor leaguers coming to watch him, and how he was pumped to be in front of a crowd again.
He went 1.1 innings i thinks with 36 pitches thrown. Topping out at 96 mph. Averaging low to mid 90s. No discomfort. Felt great after.
He also threw a bullpen session so had about 75 pitches on the day. All of them good ones apparently. He wants to increase pitch counts by 10 pitches per start and is looking at a MID MAY RETURN.
He’s gonna throw every three days I believe.

wait 36 pitches in 1.1 inning?
I assume he didnt have too great of an outing, then?
Which is fine…baby steps and all.

right
he walked at least one. gave up a double. i think another hit too. maybe a run (its tough because people do not really keep track in minor league spring training games).
his performance was far from the priority however. he needed to make sure he has no pain. after the game he said, “After this, I am not going to worry about the pain anymore. I am not going to worry about re injuring it now. I am going to worry about mechanics and getting better.” or something along those lines which is GREAT.
