Napoli will probably still be technically on DL from what has been reported.

sullivan?

its so late in spring and he has no chance at the roster. not even 40-man. why give him so much action?

by TheAngelsAngels on Mar 29, 2009 1:23 PM PDT reply actions

really?

whats wrong with him?

i have not heard anything about that

hes projected to go opening day. why would he miss a start. that would be bigger news if you ask me.

still, why not get an arsenal of roster relievers. sullivan has at least two years before people even start considering him for a 5th spot.

Update on Joe Saunders (from yesterday's OC Register)

Left-hander Joe Saunders is also out of camp today and will have his next scheduled start pushed back to Monday when he will pitch in a minor-league camp game in order to control his pitch count. Saunders has an apparent case of food poisoning.

HGH sure had an interesting morning today

LINKIE

Gary Matthews Jr. emerged from a lengthy meeting with Angels GM Tony Reagins and manager Mike Scioscia this morning, changed out of his uniform and into street clothes and left camp for the day.

Matthews declined to answer questions from reporters, saying "Give me a day, okay guys? Thanks" and shaking his head "No" when asked if he had been traded.

Given that he will be paid $33 million over the next three years

GMJ should just shut up and do as he’s told.

Thinking we should have started Reckling today...here is Keith Law's take on him
Trevor Reckling was my 2009 sleeper prospect for the Angels, and he mostly lived up to that billing Saturday. Reckling, a big, physical lefty who won’t turn 20 until late May, showed good command of a four-seam fastball, a two-seamer, a slider and a plus changeup, touching 92 with the four-seamer (one of which was clearly thrown in anger after the ump missed a called third strike on a changeup) while getting great deception on the change. His slider was inconsistent; his best ones were fringe-average with some tilt, but he threw several that lacked life and looked more like bad changeups…

Reagins says GMJ was “given the day off to think about his status for 09”…Soth and Ninja were upfront and frank about their plans for GMJ…expects him back tomorrow…

Ninja thinks it is important that both sides act professionally. Expects GMJ to be on opening day roster. He is a professional. Gary wants to play everyday…have to respect him for that!

Meanwhile another K for Fernando… :)

Any concerns GMJ will come back disgruntled? Reason they had the meeting today. No one expected GMJ back this soon and in great shape.

Has GMJ demanded or asked for a trade…Ninja says he will keep conversation from behind closed doors…behind closed doors…ie, no comment!

Has the no trade clause been waived…NO, absolutely not says Ninja!
